I do have an update, but one I'd wish I wouldn't have to give.
Fire burnt the factory I work yesterday: 01-01 Zeer grote brand Nieuw-Vennep (update)
Lost a dashboard heater control panel, and my Brembo brakes.

Hi Andy,
2 firemen were hurt, but not bad.
Police did a search but I don't know the outcome yet.
Not by me no, maybe we can arrange something through my companies insureance, but I'm not holding my breath.
I consider it gone.
Treu, things can only get better from now on. (I hope)

Hi m8,
True, the fire could have been at my car's place.
But still it's alot of money to lose coming into the new year.![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
More bad news, found out yesterday that all the stuff on the feul assembly in the tank was lost also, the walbro pump etc.
Then radiator nr3 has been welded but it leaked.
Apparently the material used for this radiator is not very "weldable" but the place it was leaking was not welded, it was a point where I bent it.
So they filled the holes with some kind of putty because they were scared to weld that close to the tubes.
It leaked on 2 locations on the top of the radiator, but at the bottom i did the same procedure, the chance of it leaking there is there.
I'm not happy.
I want a radiator that is properly welded and has no chance of leaking, so I think I'm forced to buy a professional core instead, costs going up then.
So if anyone knows a good adress where I can get a motorsport core please let me know, I've had it with waiting and buying new cores.
PS,
My nick was dinges, you remember correct.![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

The chassis will be made rust free, and maybe seam welded or caged.
Nowhere near as crazy as the Scooby though.

A friend of mine who works with fibers made a hood for me, molded from a non-turbo model.
When the rad pack set-up is fixed to the car he will also help me make the cladding from the bumper to the IC and from the radiator to the hood.
When that's done we will finish the front end of the car concerning panelgaps.
This is more important than most people realise I think, when the gaps are uneven or different in size ultimately the end result will look unfinished and unproffesional and that's defenitly not what I want!

Thanks guys, I will update the ae86 to when I start working on it! ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Today I got a present from the cranedriver who is tearing down the old building.
A Brembo brake caliper!
It was in the hottest part of the fire but it seems to be "unscratched".
Even the seals are still in.
Time for a cleanup!

Small update.
Not actually the car itself this time, but something that will help build the car when it's done and works.
I removed a welder from the burned factory, it's a Fronius Magic Wave 3000 Job.
It was a year old and apart from 2 parts and alot of smoke it seemed to be fine.
I don't know if it works yet, but I cleaned it before I test that anyway.
2 reasons for that, the smokedust can conduct electricitity and there was cristal forming everywhere, also between the components on the circuit boards, so to reduce the chance of a shortcut I cleaned it anyway.
This is how it looked when I got it:

The alu plates were acid cleaned, the bolts yellow plated and the circuit boards proffesionaly cleaned.
The casing I left as is for now, first I want to know if it works.
The parts cleaned, note the white on the alu parts, it is corroded by the chlore in the water that they used to put out the fire, nasty stuff :

That's it sofar, this week i'll test it, then if it doesn't explode I will order some parts that I need to actually weld with it, and if that works I will clean the rest.

Tell the missus I'm sorry for distracting her man.
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
It has!
Then the good news, I put some spark in the welder today and it fired up perfectly!!
The digital display worked like a dream and there were no sparks, smokes or explosions whatsoever!!
I'm very happy I must admit.
![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
So now I'm going to take it apart again and clean the outside and order the few parts that were melted or taken apart by me in order to disassemble the machine.
The bad news, the radiator core was not in yet, error in the transportation.
The guy who is making it has now left for the states untill the 11th, so another few weeks delay.....

With both the Impreza and welder projects waiting on parts I started the first work on my AE86 Today.
Biggest isseu off course ---> rust!
The amount of rust isn't as bad as most examples of this age, but it's still a bit of work.
Not much else to say about it so here are some pics:

Well, me meither hehehe.
So I decided to start at the front window, the worst bit together with the bottom rear.
Back to Impreza stuff.
Might have some new brakes too!
Found a well used set of AP-Racing brakes through a friend of mine.
They seem to be group-A rally brakes, or so I'm told.
They're the CP3720 calipers with titanium pistons, discs are 330x28mm but they are worn so they need replacing.
First I'm looking if they are worth refurbisching, checking piston damage etc.
Plan is to check them over, take them apart, powdercoat them and ship 'em over to AP-Racing in the UK for reassembly.
If this works I think I will have a set of very good brakes, far better than the brembo's...I hope.![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Already found some strange facts while examinating them closer.
The calipers are different from aech other, and 3 of the 8 pistons are different, I'm looking into how far that is of importance to the braking itself.
Anyway, pictures:
