We need a pizza hut in Woodseats

Sorry... back to the topic!

It does doesnt it? Theyve been closed up for a long time, with a semi-literate sign stated that theyre "now a internet only company" (sic): but I noticed that this had all gone a while ago. Its a bit small for a Pizza Hut but if the Big Tree keeps going down hill like it has been, then it will be vacant soon; now thatll be large enough...

You wait, that car will be back on Ebay tomorrow, probably with a ' re-advertised due to timewaster'

Lets wait and bombard them with queries about cat C questions.

If you are going the EVO route, make sure the 4500 mile AYC diff fluid changes have been done. Also jink the car left and right when driving down a straight, a dodgy AYC will give a little chirp each time (min 2k to fix).

Think Andy F has a short wheelbase Impreza he might want to sell

Must have a sti really. The Evo seems to need more servicing than the impreza however i'm a little worried about scooby engines blowing at 70k< now that would happen to me just typical.

ring him back and offer him 6k for it.

cat c isnt the end of the world, but it does reduce the value. my thinking on it is that if its been in a crash thats at a cat c, the car HAS to be repaired to an excellent standard as it has to go through an sva test to show its worthy to be on a road.

so the car is safe, its just the resale value that you lose.

if you can get that car for 6 or even 7k, you have a hell of a bargain imho!

EVO's have a very strong engine and gearbox. They are generally faster and better handling over STi's of the same age, but the price reflects this.

However, parts are expensive (£300 for a starter motor !), and servicing is expensive from a Mitsi dealer (though much beter if you have a specialist nearby). EVO IV's are getting into the hands of the thrash it and crash it brigade, V & VI are fantastic but I did not like the VII anywhere near as much as my V. VIII's look good and thats where I intend to go next (if I dont go R500 )

I must admit that made me laugh!

Looks a nice motor though.

I bidded 8.5k on the scoob cause it looked such a bargaIN (NOW WE KNOW WHY!), however i would like to spend as little as poss but i know ths can be false economy. Prices vary so much on Scoobies from 2k to 30k. Insurance is gonna be 1300 - 1600 for starters, 5k for a car thats 6.6k, it dose'nt take long to mount up. Sometimes that "bargain" can become your nightmare.
I am in thinking anything over 70k i should keep clear???

That car looks idel for me (apart from the stickers mind....!!)
Dont suppose you've seen the car in the flesh have you.....?
Shame i live about 300 miles away or i would have gone to see that.....

A good cautionary tale about buying cars on Ebay this thread !

NOTE - If a seller selling a car has 0 feedback, they ARE NOT using their main account to sell it - they have set up another account that they arent worried about getting negative feedback on ! ( and they know they are going to get it once the winner checks out the motor ).

How many people do you think have never used Ebay before and think 'hmmm, for my first experience on the site I'll list my car'

ANSWER = NONE

As we've found out, the car is a Cat C write off, which the seller didnt disclose ( and is illegal to do when selling a car BTW ) - the seller claiming they 'didnt know' - yeah right, like nobody gets a car HPI's before buying do they ?

Makes you wonder what other things they 'forgot' to mention on the listing.

Remember as well - most people selling a car stick it in Auto Trader or their local papers, the stuff that doesnt shift locally tends to end up on Ebay, e.g. cars local people have been to look at and realised they arent worth the asking price, or there is something wrong with them.

Quick Reply: Think i just bought a Scooby on ebay!!!
