my 92 runs fine on normal supermarket grade unleaded with a u8 ecu. (do usually use 97 ron (Esso) though and occasional bp ultimate, depends where I am at the time) And I have only ever seen the second knocklink led light up (on maximum sensitivty and with a good thrashing - motorway and dual carriageway to and from work (within speed limits of course)).

You can get the higher ps figure by just swapping the ecu as the internals as it is the same engine, just a more optimised map, like GC8 says the earlier cars (so cars with earlier ecu) will run better than later ecu cars.

FWIW I am getting a power fc fitted and mapped this friday, yeah!

Wagons weigh more than regular saloons, never mind the 47Ds; but they have a smaller turbo that spools up faster and more low down torque so theyre easier to drive...

Ffs; he didnt have an STI Type-RA.

James; the principal reason that an RA seems quick, despite what il-informed people will tell you, is because the early cars had a spectacularly low 4.333:1 final drive. If you were to fit that in your '94 'Wagon itd fly!

On my 92 I have black and red bucket seats. Does this mean my interior is from a later car?

should have put this link here first lol... oh btw, i stated the figures above were bhp,
they are of course ps ratings not bhp oooops
http://www.iwoc.co.uk/jpimp4.html

shaggy i bet the standard wagon feels like a tractor compared to a lower geared RA.
Never driven either, only had an MY97 rex ( which was 280 ps)

I have been driving a vectra in between having the ra and the wagon I have now, so its not so obvious.

we went into derby last night and it was the first chance I have had to boot it, it just felt as I said sluggish, I think the diff may be shagged as well as the car makes a whining noise when you let off the accelerator.

is there a definitive way of checking if it is the diff?

Thats not true im affraid, you will find as explained, it is the c series engine that has 260ps (256bhp)....so for him to say its the 260bhp model is not a bad thing...mine has the folding mirrors and black and alcantara trim, september 94.

Thanks all clearing this up...im happy and also happy to know that the ecu map is nearly the same as the uk map...but to be safe i will buy a knocklink to monitor her, as for the cambelt...it doesnt need changing for another 18,000 miles...apparantly its every 45,000 miles

It isnt just miles though Bob, thats what I was saying the other day. Its every so many miles or every so many months/years; and whilst your car hasnt reached the mileage yet its very probably reached the time.... Look at the overall mileage at which the belt was changed and the mileage now. I think that the belt was changed a long time ago and even though its not due for replacement by the odometer, I thinks its well past due...

Simon, yeah it might need changing for peace of mind but it wasnt long overdue like you said the other day in terms of mileage...its due in 18,000 miles but obviously i will be changing it.

From memory Bob; its over ten years old and its done about 100,000kms. Its had a replacement belt at 60,000kms-odd. So; thats one belt in eleven years, but a cambelt should be changed every FOUR years I believe. If we assume that the vehicle has put miles on at a linear rate then this belt was fitted a lot lot longer than four years ago..... The car mightnt need a replacement by the odometer put I think that youd be extremely foolish to run it as it is, because in all likelyhood, its well overdue!

See what I mean?

I know what it is Bob; Im the king of quoting AMNs to people! I just dont see what you meant.

The line that you have quoted refers to your model.

C1 Subaru built two C-Series models, the '95 and the '96. Your is a 1995, the C2 was the 1996

Sep '94 - August '95 This is the period during which Subaru built 1995 model year cars (referred to as MY95)

MY95 Explained above

GC8C48D The Applied Model Number that you looked at last night, explained elsewhere in the thread.

260PS is the rated output of a C1-Series WRX saloon, its about 257bhp

WRX 4 Door Now I bet that youre ahead of me with that one arent you?

I have no issue with ScoobyClinic at all; in fact I recommend them for a lot of things; but for service work like this I would always favour Sheffield Subaru Service Centre. Ex factory trained Bentleys technicians; Jef and Dean are spot on and no one can better their prices, for service work theyre the better option. Now if you want a full de-cat and a re-map then Id be speaking to Adam.

Hey shaggy not a clue about ur suspect diff problem sorry.

but remember that "claimed" bhp figure from that ebayer selling a 280 bhp wagon that was taken off the listings...
Well its now on again, under a different seller name (IIRC sure it was different name)
now claiming 250 bhp for an L plate wagon (which it would if an sti model)
has the grill badge but that dont mean **** all, he still didnt reply to my question for the model code.

Thats James's best mate! Every time the fool re-lists it James starts a thread about it! Why; he even knows the listing number off the top of his head!
