With these sort of things, especially on Ebay, its always worth asking yourself if you can afford to lose the money.
You might take a gamble on something for a fiver, but £100 isnt worth the risk - its not like there arent loads of good digital cameras around at this price brand new from shops ( my wife just bought a Kodak Easyshare one from PC World for £100 and its pretty good ).
Or if you really MUST buy from Ebay, look for someone who is a Powerseller AND registered as a business ( it will tell you this on the auction listing next to their username etc... on the top right ) - check their feedback and make sure they have plenty from buyers NOT sellers - make sure the account has been in constant use for at least the last 6 months or so. Beware of anyone who has things like their item location as being 'fast shipment from China' etc....
Buying from a Powerseller doesnt guarantee you'll get a good deal, but to be one you have to turnover a certain amount each month, which means scammers and hijacked accounts that have just been set up generally dont get to qualify. You also need to keep a 98% or above feedback score, which gives some indication of happy customers if there is plenty of fb from buyers.
Buying from someone who shows as being registered as a business means you are protected under the Distance Selling Regulations, which means you can return the item for any reason ( even if you just change your mind ) for a full refund.
Most of the sellers who are 'registered business users' on Ebay also tend to be proper businesses rather than someone selling on the side from home - they are more likely to be registered with the Inland Revenue and paying tax and/or vat, so you arent contributing to the UK's grey economy or helping support some benefit cheat.
