Daz, apart from changing from a VF28, to a marginally larger VF34, what did you do, to go from the 330bhp/300ftlbs you got at ScoobyClinic, to the 399bhp/382ftlbs at Well Lane.

Mark.
Easy one that. The scooby clinic run was done on a mildy modded engine. This run was done with the engine I originally built for my RB5. It was the RB5 that Andy Originally mapped. The RB5 has now been put back to utterly standard form (or atleast it will be tomorrow when i finish putting a stock UK turbo 2000 engine in).

So in short evreything was different. Bloody sceptics!!! lol

Would be glad to take anyone out so they can see first hand. Would be glad to be proved wrong

And what is it with all these BS statements and I quote "Home of the UK's "Quickest" 4dr Impreza 0 to 190.1mph in 1.25 miles...."

Think I'll claim the one for home of the UK's quickest impreza with an alpine stereo, a tech wheels, and hairs from a dog called fluke on the seats"

Mark, I am not denying that 399bhp from a VF34 is somewhat optimistic as you will see from my earlier threads I have openly said this.
If I was going to bull**** about my RR results they'd be a tad more impressive than 399/ 382. Realistically I am looking at around 350- 360 therefore answering the thread that YES 350bhp is possible on a standard TMIC.

And as for OMG and tolerance I hope this was intolerant enough for you.

Daz,

Sceptical, because some of us know how big a VF34 is, amused, because I know what Andy's attitude would be like had someone else mapped the car

As for my "location" details, you're right, they are a bit out dated now

Having Spoke on the phone to you on numerous occaisions I concluded you are reasonably knowledgeable. Having had forum banter with you where I have nothing to gain by making figures up and being slagged off for explaining my findings. I am not stating my car is 399 bhp I am stating thats whats well lane RR said. We all know that they read high but it aint that far out so I believe its around the 350-360 Mark. So slag my findings off all you want. However , implying I am a liar. Well that in my book makes you a first class ******!!

Steady on Daz calling Mark a ****** is a bit strong as I can't see where he implied that you a liar He just said he was sceptical and frankly I am and I suspect are many others for good reason.

I can except 350bhp though as this is achieveable with that turbo, but its on its limit IMO. As for VE, well I know the stuff you have to do to get good power from small turbos and I'd like to have done the heads like yours on my car to finish it off. I think that if I had done and added headers and a 3" exhaust then I'd be seeing the same power (I bloody hope so!). As it is I managed 333bhp with ported headers and 2.5" exhaust with Subaru silencers.

I'm puzzled why you didn't go FMIC or at least STi8 TMIC with that spec in the first place? Another point is that on my tests the MY99/00 TMIC got way too hot too easily and this was cumulative on track to very high levels (70C+). I can only imagine that with the 6MT and VF35 then things are just much worse Have you done much heat management?

As i Have stated all along, I too think that 350-360 is a much more realistic figure. Believe you me I want the Front mount more than anything. It's just down to budget at the mo.

As soon as I clear things with the other car Then i will have a bit more to play with. Then I will be looking at The garrett/IHI hybrid that Roger Clark do (p20 with ported shroud) probably an APS front mount however i do like the look of the Greddy one too. 740's then another trip To Andy to get it mapped. Although I may get him to come here on this occasion.

As for exhaust, I have the GT spec headers, TSL group A down pipe, TSL de-cat centre and the Firestorm backbox. There isnt any heat management at present other than the two side boneet vents opened up and the removal of the undertrays. Nothing to do with heat management though I just couldnt be arsed to put them back until I am well and trully finished.

I totally agree with what you say about the top mount its not upto the job with power above 350. Its ok with temps like they are at the mo but in the summer it certainly struggles.
I do intend to replace it ASAP with a FMIC

Here's the well lane Dyno sheet http://www.scoob.co.uk/dyno399.jpg

Daz,

I'm sorry you took offence at my posts. The question of "tolerance" was directed at those people who would normally rip the p155 out of your ludicrous Well Lane figures, where instead they used a series of and !!!

For someone who insists he doesn't believe his own WL figures, stating they are more likely some 50bhp less, it's somewhat strange that you take offence at others suggesting the same

Since we both, in fact all agree that your Well Lane figures are boll0x, how, and where do you consider I implied you're a liar ?

With regard to me being a first class ******, well if you're going to do something, at least be "first class" at it

However, in this case, I have to concede to you being a cut above me

Mark.

Fair one. My Offence was taken by the fact that you were even doubting the 350-360 bhp . Now if you are indeed the Subaru god you portray yourself to be then you and I both know that a VF34 with supporting mods is cable of producing this. YES i do accept that this is at the top of its range but that has not been in dispute all along. Indeed throughout my posts I have said that this is a more realistic figure but you still carried on with your futile dispute thus making you the bigger of the ******* here.
Had you read my post properly you would have comprehended that I wasnt claiming at any time that I believed the Well Lane figures. My post was supporting the original post that 350bhp is achievable on a standard UK spec top mount intercooler as that is the figure that i believe I am running. Or are you now saying that Well Lane's figures are more than 50bhp out in this instance?

Ladies and gentlemen, members of the jury the defence rests!!!!

Daz,

I suggest that you re read my posts, because you seem to lack the capacity to digest the content first time around !

NOWHERE do I imply doubt over your 350bhp claim, I did in fact say we AGREED about the WL figures ! So no futile dispute there then

Nor will you ever find me trying to portraying myself as any sort of Subaru god, guru, or any other such nonsense

The problem, is that you chose to reply to my original post, in a rude, and un called for manor.

Even after I make quite clear what I said, you continually accuse me of posting things that only exist in your twisted imagination, and you still continue to be rude, and offensive.

Please feel free to believe your figures are whatever you want them to be.

If you knew 350bhp was reasonable on a TMIC then why not say that in the first place instead of the pub boast 399bhp?

Who are you implying are the other w4nkers then?

I don't think you have read other peoples posts thoroughly.

Floyd,

Thats exactly what I did yesterday in my first post.

As for the w4nkers statment I wrongly called mark one yesterday, he called me one back I merely stated that he was the bigger one of the two of us.

I was not refering to anyone else is this manner.

I hope that clears it up.

I was wrong to call Mark that it just pi$$es me off when people automatically think you are bull****ting as Mark did yesterday.

The "pub boast" was immediatly followed up with a statement about well lane reading high and 350bhp being a safe bet.

I hope that diffuses this thread a little.

Chrome, Thanks for your positive comments

what bhp did you have ATW's only reason i ask when i rolling roaded my evo 5(when I had it) i made 360bhp atf a guy with less spec and less boost made 350bhp atf but made 30bhp atw's less than me (he had a brake or diff prob cant remember which one) which made his power about right for the car.

That may be the reason for your high ish bhp atf ?

It just pisses me off when people automatically think you are bull****ting like mark did yesterday hence the ****** statment which, i agree, was in your own words "a bit strong".

but on another thread you do boast.....

Daz,

At no point did I say, or think you were "bull****ting". Since you posted the WL figures were high, and 350bhp a more realistic figure, and I stated several time that we agreed about the figures, just what do you consider I thought you were bull****ting about ? more over, where am I supposed to have implied it, let alone said it ???

The problem with this thread, is that you keep "STATING" things I Neither SAY, or THINK.

Let's just agree that you misinterpreted what I said, and call it a day

Anyway, to answer the original question, yes you can get 350 on a MY99 TMIC. It wouldn't be sensible on track or prolonged heavy road use in summer but why would you want to use one at that level of power?

Oh yeah! Silly me. Lets build a 350bhp engine on a shoe string and expect it to last more than 5 mins So if the question was can you get 350 on a MY99 TMIC? Then yes, but don't rely on it for very long IMO.

That performance comes at a cost and unless you are skillful, lucky or Bob then you should save your pennies if you want to go quick!
