However, the point of my post is, most of the people I have known go out with school girls have been either:
a) very dim
b) unable to have a relationship with an adult

I have a degree, so does she. I split up with a women who was 2 years older than me to be with her. Previous g/f to her was 3 older than me, previous to her was the same age as me.
So, I have no problems dating women the same age, I am not dim AND our relationship has depth and meaning.
Kind of blows all the bigoted ranting out of the window doesn't it?
Oh, every night I do still ask her how her day at school was, but that's because she's now a teacher (peri music teacher)
Oh, and about the too young to be insured for the Scoob - my wife owns a bleeding Vectra 3.2V6 GSi! The insurance is less than £500 a year.

I dont think my mate will proceed with it....
he's getting soo much stick already and think he realises how stupid it is:
Has been nicknamed 'Glitter'
Usual jokes about hanging around outside school gates
How he can take it in turns to pick her up from school between her dad and him...
but when the lights are out who's the daddy?!?
Take her out to dinner.......to McDonalds - she'll be more than impressed
Have her in by 10pm
Easy gift for Xmas - lunchbox
He'll have more in common with her parents than her
etc etc......
*add your own if you wish*

Personally, i'd advise him to get a new set of "mates". Comments like that *prove* the immaturity thing. She's 17 for Christ's sake, old enough to marry!!

Kinda shot myself in foot when Lisa became a schoolteacher... my comments of "she's lying in today 'cos it's half-term" REALLY didn't help!
You and your mates ought to cut him some slack. *IF* it's a mistake, it's his to make not yours

Question is, have you done it?
Sure she's old enough in the eyes of the law to marry and can possibly be quite 'mature' of a fashion, but realistically having common ground of which to base a relationship on just isn't possible in the majority of cases in this age range.
It's quite funny how naturally most blokes react too when age is mentioned, like they somehow think that a 17 year old *should* be sexier. In actual fact, as someone has said already, she could be very plain or indeed a minger. Age has no real relation to beauty but it doesn't stop the stereotypical thoughts rearing does it.
One thing she won't have is much experience, and that's a fact.

Reading some of the comments on here I can't see how some people feel they're in any position to say a 17 year old girl isn't mature......

My mother was married with a kid at 19, my father being 27 at the time.
Never caused them or anyone else in the family any problems, even though when they met she was less than 17.

Even then if they had started having sex at 13 you really think that's a lot of experience? I'd certainly doubt the quality.
Who mentioned they were thick anyway? If you're confusing intelligence with experience then what's that saying about you?

Your banging on about lack of experience, the ONLY possible thing they can lack in experience if general life experience and how does that matter to whether 2 people of the opposite sex can get along? Maybe the guy isnt planning on it being a long term relationship anyhow, so the whole arguement your putting up is worthless....

You don't have to agree with what others post, that's what makes a discussion.
You should also notice I've not condemned the age gap, I've merely stated my thoughts on it. If two people can get on in that age range then fine. I'm saying there is a big chance after the initial 'honeymoon' period it could die.
Personally I'd feel I was lacking something if I had to look for a relationship with a 17 year old at 27.

FFS, just typed out a decent reply and somehow clicked the damn advert for a speed camera detector and lost it all
Not ognna type it out again. but basically we've gone off topic from the original question now, but I made my points earlier on in the thread.
BUT
As with any relationship.
And I dont think people purposely go out looking for someone aged 17.... might get a 17yr old looking for a 27yr old but doubt it happens all too commonly the other way round.
