I wondered maybe if you had the research papers on that statement, that's all.

Sorry cocked up a little there with my cut and paste skills

The research papers?

Oh I see, like you researched all people over the age of 20 who are dating a 17 year old to make a statement about whether they had something missing or not?

If, at 16, they take it up the wrong'un it's fun for a while but hardly "girlfriend" material is it.

I'm always amazed at how threads about something so inconsequential can last for ten pages, while threads of importance fritter out after one. Long live NSR, or is that Muppets

Dave, I reckon you are struggling with this. Can you point to where I mentioned anybody else feeling the way *I* would?

We're discussing other people here though are we not? We've all made "our" own personal points on it now we're discussing generalistic views.... no? otherwise whats the point in discussing it any further because my veiw will always be different to yours.

Anyhow, no matter how strong or good you think your opinion is your still in a 28% minority from 150 votes....

Yes and it says a fair bit about the ScoobyNet audience so it's not too surprising.

p.s I still haven't voted.

There is no generalising about a polls results, you've quoted the figures yourself.
Does she? I thought she might have just been saying that reading some of the posts that they can hardly be in a position to call a 17 year old immature.

We will have to wait clarification on that.

Fair enough, could well have read it wrong.

We'll await confirmation but on that note I think both me and you have made each others point to each other...

See you in another thread lol

I agree - but only if you HAD to look.

I didn't

It kinda got dropped in my lap. Well, face. Whatever.

I don't see a problem with it. It's down to the people involved. The only thing is, and this might be a generalisation, but I doubt it will go the distance. The 27 year old guy will probably have different ideas about what he wants from a relationship (long term, potential marriage material etc), whereas the girl has got a lot of living to do. People do get together at 17 and stay with them forever but I'd have thought it's rare.

Again, these are just generalisations though.

Ive not read through all this but il give you my experience on the subject.

I met my girlfriend when i was 21 and she was 16.

We got all the "it wont last" comments and nobody really took us seriously as a couple, we are now engaged and have 5 happy years under our belt, shes my best friend and partner and life wouldn't be the same without her.

It can work if you stick with it and ignore the people trying to put you down.

Good luck to them! I started dating when my girlfriend had just turned 17 and I had just turned 26. We got engaged 6 weeks later. In June we celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary
