How sad.
This was Richard in Corsica 2003, not a great rally for him, and I think he only went on to compete in one other. The stupid grins were due to to comments made between Solberg and Richard and I. I am glad I was able to at least say hello to him!

Really shocked to see this on the news this morning. Richard is one of the reasons I discovered rallying and probably had an influence in me being a scooby nut for over 5 years too. Rally GB in 2003 was my first rally and I was so upset then to hear he'd fallen ill - for it to all end like this is a tradegy.
RIP Richard

The sports presenter was a rally fan I think - he seemed genuinely shocked to be giving the news.

RIP Richard.
I recall at the Rally Travel open evening in Salou, Robbie Head and Tony Mason were discussing Richard's situation.I rememeber Robbie saying that it wan't looking too good for him. I believe he and Richard were great mates.
Very sad indeed, my condolences to his family in particular and to all his motorsport 'colleagues'.
