Pete, quick hijack please. Can someone outline the relative pros/cons of plasma vs LCD?

Plasma can be bigger, probably gives a better quality picture (deeper blacks, less ghosting if you're gaming or watching fast sports). LCD less fragile if you move it around a lot, no such thing as screen burn (minimised now on plasmas), 30% lighter (40in LCD weighs 28kg, 42in plasma weighs over 40kg). You might be able to repair an LCD if it dims or goes wrong after 10 yrs, less likely with plasma.

That's what I've found so far anyway...

Because they are running loads of tellys from one picture source.

Dixons run all those Tellys on RF - no chance to asses the pic quality. Beats me why they are so prehistoric. and cant run RGB to them from a DVD or SKY box. Not that much more costly really.

Although I am awaiting a 50" Sony rear proj [having been gobsmacked after seeing it in professional 'well set-up' use] CRT still remains the best. This is what all TV directors/editors/graders/colourists use to judge the look of the shots you get on the box. That says it all - Plasma/TFT/LCD/Projector are all weaker in comparison [I am talking top dollar 'Grade 1' £2000 21" CRT's mind ]. Every decent edit suite has one and the TFT's et all are disregarded when definitively analysing the pic for the master tape.
