if i was going for over 350 i would swap the gear box before it died, at least that way you can sell it on

Along the same lines, I've decided to have 2 'stages' for this upgrade. Stage 1 is just about everything in the first list. Stage 2 will consist of things like equal length headers, power FC, Custom ECU, uprated suspension, Godspeed brake upgrade (I like my Prodrive wheels but the Brembo and AP kit won't fit behind them) and possibly a little laughing gas
![Luxhello](images/smilies/luxhello.gif)
Stage 1 is my pre-midlife crisis treat, stage 2 is post. The wife says I can deal with it any way I like as long as it can be spray-painted or chromed and goes in the engine bay, not dyed blonde and put on the passenger seat....

Update:
The following kit is either in the garage waiting to be fitted or in the post.
AFP18G Turbo
Walbro 255lph HP Fuel pump
Full H&S 3" exhaust inc uppipe with sports cat in DP
APS TMIC
Injectors Sti 550cc pink
Uprated spark plugs NGK PFR7B
APS CAI (innner wing)
APS BoV Twin dump (as an 'experiment')
Samco 11 part red hose kit (to be fitted later to make the engine bay look pretty ... awww
)
This lot's being fitted at the end of the week and hopefully tuned by Andy F on the following Monday
I've also had a thought about going to WRC tech who are just down the road from me to get a 'pre' upgrade run on the rolling road.
The next mod (when the bank balance has recovered a little) is a Whiteline makeover at the rear (drop links, ARB) and a full geometry setup.
Not looking forward to the trip to meet Andy 'off boost' and playing with the trucks, but sure am looking forward to driving home afterwards!!![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Edited to say thanks for all the advice and the parts (most bought through SN members!). I hope to report positive things back soon!

I hope to re-aquaint myself with the monthly meets in Northampton from next month. Went a few times when they first started, but haven't been for some time now.

OK, all bits except spark plugs, CAI and fuel pump fitted. Came home at less than 2500rpm with smoke pouring out the bonnet (for the first few miles) as the exhaust etc cleaned itself up. Was fairly alarming but stopped ... phew!
I'm now hoping my local scooby performance workshop can help me out and get the plugs and pump fitted. Don't have a ramp to do the plugs and I'm woosing out of the fuel pump job. The CAI I can fit ... I think...
Anyway, if all goes well will be meeting Andy on Monday.

The day before the remap:
Well, all went well and the car's ready for the remap! BIG thanks to Paul at Zen for stepping up and fitting the plugs, fuel pump and CAI yesterday with just a few hours notice. Top job. He also spotted the exhaust/turbo fitters had left out the restrictor when they'd but the Samco hose kits in!! This would have been a complete show stopper. Zen highly recommended if you want any engineering work done to your scooby...
Getting really p'd off with staying below 2500 rpm, although it's running better than I thought it would considering the ECU hasn't got a clue how much everything around it has been mucked about with. Maybe it's because it has a PPP map on it it's coping a little better than a stock map would?
Need to get the scoop splitter sorted now, as front to back it's only covering the front 75% of the APS TMIC and it misses out 2 rows of fins on the nearside and 4 rows on the offside. There's a few options here. Get the APS kit (though that may only be suitable if I also get the STI scoop, which I don't really want to do), 'convert' (i.e. hack) the existing part or get an STI part from someone who doesn't need it anymore due to fitting a FMIC.
I think I'll try the conversion option first just to get more air to it for the mapping tomorrow, then see if I can pickup the STI splitter somewhere.
Less than 24 hours to go ...

ALL DONE ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
The drive home was a revelation! To say it's quick wouldn't do it justice.
Thanks must go to Andy for this final report. He did an excellent job and really, really knows his stuff.
An accurate rolling road (does one exist?) would be needed to get the final figures, but the numbers from the road test say it has comfortably met and most likely exceeded the 350bhp target.
So, for those newbies that want to know how to get over 350 bhp and still have a road friendly car, rather than just a track monster, see above![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Many thanks to all the Scoobynet members that have contributed information that made this possible, and to Scoobynet for being there so they could.

Andy: glad to see you got back ok, and thanks again.
RLE: Not much fun, but then I had everything done at once. I made the driver of a 1.6 Cortina very happy though as he thought it was his birthday when he out accelerated me... Staying off boost isn't that bad when you accept that you're going to be the slowest vehicle on the road on the way there, but potentially the quickest on the way back

Thats a great read
But can you just quickly give me a run down of all your engine mods? Either on this thread or by PM if you like, and obviously if you dont mind![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I`ve now got a few mods added to my Bugeye WRX, consisting of:
Fitted vf28 turbo
Fitted STi8 tmic
Fitted full decat including up pipe
Fitted JR panel filter
STi pink injectors awaiting fitment
Walbro fuel pump awaiting fitment
Im wondering if you have anything else I need doing and also whether you reqd a fuel pressure reg.

As for your list; looks good to me but apart from the research I did and the experience I've had doing my WRX, I know bugger all about modding turbo cars

FPR only really required if you're going to really push the 18g or 20g turbos. On a standard WRX engine, I don't think people really want to be going that far.

It's not the engine internals that would cause me concern, more the 5 speed box.
Keep it sensible and they seem to last fine as mentioned above by WRX Rich.
An Sti would need approx 20-30bhp more to keep with a WRX due to the WRX's better gearing and lower weight.
