I once asked the owner of the plate I wanted G1NGE if she would sell it to me but she politely declined!! Shame! I'd seen her in town and followed her home...

The best one I saw on an old a porsche 928 was O BO110X

also be sure the number is not a blocked one used by government, MI5, special forces etc else you will get your friend in the force a visit from the boys just like they did in spooks!

DVLA must surely hold the owners details?

Couldn't they send a letter saying that Ive shown an interest in their car and that i'd like them to contact me or something?!

Doesnt seem 10000% unfeasible.

Well yes they could, but why would they?, and surely that would have the same security implications as just giving you the address...

This plate, or one very similar, was spotted on a new age wrx recently, in south Wales.

Re G1NGE, was this on a mini by chance? If so I have seen it before.

Re the 1990 Fiesta with FAR 4H on it, it looks like the owners will have put it on as a cherished plate to start with as its not a 1990 plate.

The DVLA will not deal with the public direct. They will deal with solicitors and also insurance companies, DWP etal and obviously the BiB and such like.

Nope, but they are asking the owner of the plate to get in touch with you and although not obliged to, If he responded after a couple of mins on the phone you'll know where he lives, maybe arrange to meet up to talk price blah, blah, goes back to the security issue I'd say, if you were looking to 'lift' his motor it would be an easy intro... or if you were looking to beat the crap out of him because he cut you up on the M1 last week, same applies

As mentioned before contact the dvla and pay £2.50. Just say the car with this registration has been involved in an incident. Thats all you need to do.

Thats a criminal offence. Obtaining a service by deception. You are falsely representing that you require the information because you have been involved in an accident. And you haven't. Each transaction is logged and traceable. Don't do this.
