Yep thats exactly right,have a read about mains phasing in hi end audio..

There are plenty of sites that have loads of info on Shuko's,i even think Maplin sell them now!!!

Hmmm, only found some dubious martial arts weapons and throwback european type plugs.

I don't understand this hifi stuff, but I can offer some great snake oil for £15 a sachet which is guaranteed to polarize the audio electrons in the interconnects, mains leads or hi-fi stands for a much purer sound

DIY speaker cables made with braided Cat 5 is supposed to be the way to go (and cheap too). Read about it here or just do a Google search.

Shuko's are european..Just look like a circular plug with 2 prongs instead of 3.

Hi end stuff is all subjective to the listeners ear,as a rule you have to spend big money to even make the smallest difference sometimes.If your happy with your front end,amp and speakers.Cabling,filtering and positioning is the only real way forward,even this can run into loadsa dosh,if you let it!!!

Hi end is the visciousist(is that a word??) circle of them all!!!

Although Nordost ARE selling off Blue Heaven cheaply at the moment now that they have new lines on the market. Might not be as prohbitive as you think. Whether it would be substantially better than Flatline Gold though is open to debate.

Separate spur off the house distribution, decent plugs and power cable, clean all fuses/holders and power connections (not just the audio connections). Blu tack under amplifier/cd-player feet, remove speaker grills, experiment with felt on flat surface around tweeter. Play with speaker positioning.

Little bit more involved - rip out the **** analogue stage (including *all* filtering) in the Marantz and replace with a nice discrete transistor using LED to provide a constant load.

What I did do last night was to clean / treat the INTERNAL fuses and the power connections into the main boards after the transformers in both CD player & amp with DeOxit and ProGold. Also right inside the phono connections on each component with lint-free cloth.

Sounded great

The large glass of Rock Hill Farms on ice helped too

Actually Denon's DeMagic does make a difference, especially on the more budget-oriented end of the spectrum. For £15 or so, definitely worth a spin, so to say.

Was in my system (for speaker cable anyway). The slightly worrying thing is that Blue Heaven Rev 2 also worked better in my system than Red Dawn Rev 2, dealer agreed - hence I went the "cheaper" way for the blue heaven 2. Fantastic cable in the right application, but even on special offer at the moment, you can't describe it as what most people would describe as a budget tweak, and it would be overkill unless you have at least a couple of £k.

The ultimate answer is of course to go with Valhalla all round (speaker, interconnect and mains leads), plus multiple sets of titanium pulsar points, a very nice rack and ideally a dedicated mains spur etc. The slight issue there being that you'd end up spending the price of a new STi on cabling, power and isolation alone and still need the hi-fi to go with it!

I've not read the thread completely but I have not seen anyone mention Bi-Wiring your speakers.... that's worth doing I've done that on my Ruark's with Ixos cables.

I'm sure I've still got 2 wall mounted soundstyle stands for single componants to rest on about here somewhere if anyone is interested I'll track them down.

You can also get replacment feet for the Rega I've replaced the rubber one's on mine with some metal spiked ones also there is a weight that you drop on the album as it rests on the turntable, that sits on the centre spike.

It's a sound psychological principle, but whether you need to spend a fortune on Mr Belt's clips, creams and foils is another matter. Personally I prefer to wipe a bit of my snot on the back of each component and shout "Who's the daddy" three times before each listening session
