there was a blind man with a guide dog in one of the restaurants last night. A waitress gave him a menu. She got told she was an idiot by me but his wife found it funny. Not really relevent to this thread but funny anyway.

Just because someone is disabled doesn't mean they wouldn't have a sense of humour too. If I saw a blind person walk into a lamp post I'd see if they were OK and try cracking a joke with them.
It would be even funnier if their guide dog walked into a lamp post

Point taken Stefan, but just how funny do you think a blind person WOULD find this? On any level? I know i'm banging on, but to me, i just have the upmost respect for these people making the effort to get out and about, and laughing at them for encountering the sort of hindrance you and i just take for granted just doesn't register. Dunno.

I agree. I wouldn't automatically burst out laughing. If they look injured or seriously pi$$ed off I'd wouldn't crack any jokes. Sometimes you can have a giggle without it being offensive. Suppose we'd really need to ask someone blind.

Telboy,
I dont think you need to apologise for your earlier comments, you are absolutely right.
Reality,
You have no idea of my age, but you are acting like a very immature and basically selfish youth!

I dont think i would find it funny wether they were blind or not. It just doesnt come across as being very funny, unless u have a very low brain capacity or u have such a **** life that u find something like that hugely entertaining(chav comes to mind), then no, its just not funny.

It's a slightly different thing to have a quiet chuckle at something than to roll around on the floor laughing out loud and pointing at someone you don't know. From a pragmatic point of view, the first does no-one any harm, the second potentially does (different if the person concerned is laughing or you know them and know they'llfind it funny). To my mind, if you're not harming / offending anyone else, what you choose to do or laugh at is entirely your own affair. If you're making someone's life miserable (be they blind / handicapped / whatever), that's not right.
Whether I'd have chuckled or not is hard to tell without seeing the event myself.
