That post about speeding on a pushbike made me smile. Me and a mate once got two strokes of the cane each for overtaking the maths teacher, who was driving his Austin A40 "the dum-dum bullet", going downhill with a backwind to the local grammar school. The head said we were speeding.
Our reputations were sky-high that week, so it was worth it

me: (feeling brave now) So you are saying you pulled me over and are letting me of with not causing an offence?
plod: excuse me while I check you tyres, lights, number plate and exhaust noise level
me: thinks - bollox - wish I hadn't felt so brave
the feker checked everything, found nothing he could fault, and let me go. I jumped on (in a bad mood by this stage) and accelerated sharply up to the speed limit.........blue lights again... me pulls over again
plod: - I am not telling you again.... now on your way.... SLOWLY this time
