I agree with the earlier comment, everytime I am on the M25 I will sit just under 100 providing the numbers aren't illuminated as they only work when the variable limit is on. Been doing it for years and no tickets through the post yet.

If you get banned I understand that you 'lose' the points after the ban has been expended but this may depend on the length of ban - over 58 days. Is this correct?

My speed on M25 is exactly the same. IN hundreds of times on there, I've seen cameras go off about 4-5 times, and generally on the opposite carriageway (and then when the signs are illuminated).
I wonder, if now the roadworks are gone, they have decided to use them more for speeding and revenue generating than before when it was set with a high threshold. I do know that I have seen people run through them at over 20mph (ie at 65mph when the signs show 40) and they have not been flashed, but the ones on these gantry's are the older models that require the digital images to be manually collected.
I wonder if the new ones (erected during the roadworks) are the newer ones which are always on and send the images without human interaction - it would make sense to have this newer technology installed at this time. If this is the case, it means people will forever be speeding up and slowing down, which in itself is bloody dangerous....

In all seriousness though I got flashed on that same stretch at 88 in my/your old Carlton GSI. Not once but twice. Nothing ever came of it.
You have to think of the amount of people who drive at that speed on the M25, if the camera were live it would run out of film in a day. So even if it was live the chance of it being maxed out would be remakably high.

Wouldn't worry too much mate, the cameras aren't set to trigger when the speed limit signs are off.
I use this section regularly (live just off J11) and have done so for many years. Never got a ticket yet.
The most worrying thing is the recent trend for each gantry to be set at a different speed limit for absolutely no reason. Last Tuesday afternoon I saw 60, 50, 40 , and even 20 mph signs in a journey between the M4 and the A3. Light traffic and the only obstuction was a broken down car on the hard shoulder. Surely reducing traffic to 20mph for a car on the hard shoulder isn't safe??

before any smart **** posts, there wasn't any warnings on the Matrix system and there wasn't any debris in the road.
One of the plastic police road safety vehicles was in attendace. How I loathe this dumbing down of the traffic police.
