this guy must surely be a troll, because he is just so far off the mark with his "opinions".

"Hitler was a nice guy" - there you go, that's an opinion! doesn't mean it isn't total bullsh1t!

Blimey - were you scorned by an MX5 in a previous life, you seem very bitter towards them. LOL! And no I don't own one, or a scoob but I've driven a fair few cars in my time and thats where MY opinion comes from.

CrisPDuk - agreed, or maybe RWD is just too intimidating for some

You cannot argue the FACT is (as you like to say) its sales beat any other car of its type, and that mags like Evo (who don't know a thing about cars and fun etc ) rate it very highly indeed.

The MX-5 is so Mod -able its untrue, in a very similar way to the scooby

The Turbo options are endless, Greddy,HKS, AVO, FM etc and theres the new BRP MP62 Supercharger that when intercooled can easily take a sub 1000 Kg car well past 220 BHP , obviously this sounds a lot less than a scooby but these things really shift

Then you have the advantage of learning a new driving style, propper rear wheel fun.

My mate has a 92 classic and its fantastic , I love it , but my 5 is a totally different car and opffers a totally different experience and without all that BHP its a cracking car to own
Ahem, I'll think you'll find it's a 93 actually

One can't fail to notice that, given the subject matter, you omit to mention that one of your cars is a 205 in a gay colour SJ

Although our resident 'expert' JCS will probably tell you that the 205 is the worst handling FWD car money can buy

sorry to dissapoint u but my previous car was a 205 and i think they are superb cars, i've also stated on other threads that i think theres still hasnt been a hot hatch made that betters the 205.
Also at no time did i claim to be an expert on the mx5, i simply stated that i dislike the car, in return u and a few others got all hot and botherd cause u just cant get you're head round the idea. U cant just like a car cause everybody else does.

To be honest you`ve left yourself wide open to criticism in this thread, perhaps it was your intention.

You previously said that you do like fun drivers cars, and for that reason do not like the MX5, fair enough, that`s your opinion and, inaccurate though it may be, you stand by it.

In this particular post quoted, you now say you are not an expert on the MX5. Hmmmm, I`m confused here (and not just by your punctuation skills) as I can`t understand why you are quite happy to dismiss the MX5 as being a poor drivers car without being an expert on it. Could you explain without returning to your dislike for the car?

Punctuation skills are not all that important, im just here to talk about cars.
As i already said, i added a few things in there just to noise a few folk up AFTER it became clear that people could not just accept that i had a dislike to this car. I said i did'nt like 2 seater "sports cars", the MX5 just happens to be one that i don't like. I will hold my hands up and say that yes it would be a fun car to drive if u like those sorts of cars, but as i don't, my opinion is different. You're right that i did leave myself open to criticism but thats no reason to not have a say. I suppose the people who say its a great car must be experts.

JCScoob. Z3 bad car MX5 good car dont compare!
MX5 superb bit of kit. Fantastic handling. Bullet proof build quality -have to agree with all that´s been said on here really. I have also had a supercharged one which I took to a scooby meet. It would stay with powerfull modified classics on a dry road. Not as capable as an all round A to B car as my scoob. But very good fun and very quick once rolling. Was called a hairdresser and gay once or twice -they do have this girly image - but anyone that knows anything about cars knows that they are a superb bit of enginering. All mine have been very reliable and are very over engineered.
For me the MX5 and the Scoob (when they work) are the two best things to come out of Japan in terms of sheer driving pleasure. Did feel that the MX5 in stock form was underpowered but this was more than made up for by its sublime handling abilities. Z3 - MX5 I ask you! JCs having a giraffe.
The MX5 is definately up there with The MK2 Golf Gti, the Porker 968, E30 M3 etc. Having owned them all I can vouch for this

I appreciate all you're saying mate and u obviously have plenty experience but i just dont like them. That does not give anyone the grounds to say i dont know what im talking about. You cant force somebody to like something that they dont.

There is salvation for you mate Your comments on the 205

However, how can you drive a 205 and not like its RWD equivalent with such passion. The 205 is french ****e, rattly, poorly built etc, but OMG what a superb car to drive. Having driven that and both my sis's MX's they are both fab in the same way but a tad different

Is it the style of the car you are slating more than the drive?
