Cheers mate.

I was given a defective part notice.

They need to be taken to an MOT testing station for them to look at and check the relevant item(s), if they are ok after being tested, they get signed off by an MOT tester and stamped with the testing station details (like they do an MOT) and then it gets returned to the police station within the allocated time (I was given 14 days to get it looked at), basically like a producer.

Just caught wind of the post above, so you honestly believe that a Police Offcier is going to be unduly impressed because you drive £15k's worth of Subaru?
I doubt the cop would be impressed in the slightest, you ever hear of impressive cars? like Ferrari? or Aston Martin? or Porsche? or maybe even Lamborghini? im sure as a traffic officer, he has seen all sorts of machiney, and just because you're impressed by a very basic 4 door saloon that doesnt look much, doesnt mean that the greater public are, so the very pretentious and cocky comments you made probably just made him think you're a very sad, easily impressed individual who has a bad enough life without having anything else go wrong, so let you go there and then.

With the amount of Imprezas that get stolen, I wouldve thought you'd appreciate an officer taking the time to do a spot check, I bet if your car was nicked you'd be the first complaining the Police dont do anything except rely on speed cameras.

Yeah i had a right good chat with a couple of officers myself not too long back. I pulled into my local park for a walk around, and i saw a policeman and woman turn around when they heard me coming, then change direction and head my way. I said to my missus, here we go, now what. Anyway, they both walk over and he says "nice sound that is, what exhaust is that?" and we end up talking for 20 mins about Subaru's and the fact she would love one but cannot afford it, etc, etc. It was a really good chat about cars and Scoobies. All in all what a "bloody nice bloke and a bloody nice woman".
Here was me being all biased and thinking i was in for it, and they were very interested as i am in cars. Sorted the missus out though, she was bored ****less! LOL.

sorry i think again you are wrong,

the only requirement for a cat on a vehicle manufactured after 92, is that it maintains the required emmisions for the vehicle at the

there is no legal requirement to have a cat fitted to your vehicle.

another interesting point, clarifyed by the mot testers web site,

Quote"

. Your vehicle has had its catalytic converter removed and replaced by a normal exhaust silencer but passes the emissions Test. Does it fail the MOT because it hasn't got a catalytic converter when it should have one?

a) No, if it passes the emissions part of the MOT that is acceptable.

b) Yes, the absence of the catalytic converter when the vehicle was originally fitted with one will result in an MOT failure.

c) Yes, because all vehicles must now be fitted with a catalytic converter.

the answer to the above question is

6. Your vehicle has had its catalytic converter removed and replaced by a normal exhaust silencer but passes the emissions Test. Does it fail the MOT because it hasn't got a catalytic converter when it should have one?

In my humble experience, when i had my golf which i have now, i had a 5" savage pipe on it from motorworld, and all silencers removed, it was loud, and chav, for a golf.

the traffic cop did me for drugs, he was sound, we spent an hour talking including him showing me how his speeding tester thing works (and hence how to avoid it), where marijuana comes from and whats added to it, etc.

he didnt do me at all for my exhaust, or my induction kit, both of which were undeclared.

i was in the wrong, i knew so, i came clean, he respected me for it. i got a verbal warning for having an ounce on me, how sound is that.

Its the other cops i hate, in their ford foci, who clearly are past it and wont ever have the honor of being traffic cops.

for example.

im doing 60mph in a 50 limit uphill, my foot pressed all the way in third, the max a 1.48v golf will do, noisey exhaust, see cop car parked 90 degrees out to the left, slow down. he follows me for 3 miles, where i do 60mph in a 70 zone.

they pull me over, tell me my exhaust is illegal, tell me i was doing, and i quote, "95mph" (this is up a hill where my car wont physically do 70)

now id had a bad nite and was pissed off, especially with oldboy copper calling me lofty, and a "tall ******" (im 6ft 7, he was tiny) so i simply asked "do you have any evidence",

"yes"

"can i see it"

"no"

"i have a right to see it, look in your rulebook"

"ummm" (he walks off, comes back)
"ur free to go, **** off before i do you for something"

Aslong as u dont have a chip on ur shoulder, the traffic cops wont do you for anything really, they have been on the force for too long, know if people are guilty by looking at them, know all the tricks, drive better than you, and the ones ive met love their job.

treat them with respect, and they will treat u with respect.

Lads,

Have read a few of the things on here, time and time again this topic comes up, makes interesting reading. As a cop myself, i see it all, deal with it all.

Cops arent all the same, some good some bad and some terrible. You never hear of the good one, as it doesnt make interesting reading, the bad and terrible ones always make the headlines and cause a stir with us who love their cars.

Explaining the joys of driving a police car NOT on an emergency run but still speeding, cutting lanes and all that, well, ud have to know what world we live in for that. As always, cops are slagged off all the time, but bet loads of ppl here have been pulled over and the cops have been fine with them.

Then again, how can we stop YOU driving but as soon as YOUR impreza is nicked well ............. do YOU think we should stop it!?!?!

I have had my impreza nicked and written off and I was hoping every cop out there would be tring to pull it.

I pull every impreza i can find, maybe just maybe it might mean I get someone's nicked pride and joy motor back to them, but hey you continue to slag is off

Cheers and happy motoring,
