People's intolerance is unfortunately amply demonstrated by the incidents of road rage we regularly see in the press. In the past, I've had to check my reactions myself, though now I have a few years as well as a few miles on the clock, things are better.
I've read what you and others have said with interest. I've had a few decent cars in the past, a TVR Chimaera, BMW 528is and an SRI-130, but before that I've driven some real sheds, and it's right, the more powerful the car or the 'better' it's 'image' the more respect it seems to get. Even in the TVR, I never noticed the 'pull-in' effect as much as I do with the scooby. People seem to realise that you're not going to get in their way and let you past to 'get on with it'. It's when they don't, that the test of character is set.
Do you get cross or indignant? Tailgate them as if to say "don't you know who I am / what I'm driving? (WRX/STI or VR6)", OR, do you think, 'OK, they're doing 70mph, the speed limit, it's ME that's bresking the law for my own amusement and so it's ME that has to give way and wait for the other driver to finish their move as they're doing nothing wrong"?
If you fall into the first catagory, you are playing a dangerous game that could lead to your own or others injury, or worse. This mentality is only marginally appropriate on a race track, where training and experience will offset the competitive red mist. It certainly has no place on a public road with drivers of variable levels of skill that may be nervous enough already without you hanging off their exhaust or just plain minding their own business and driving normally.
If you fall into the second, congratulations. You are one of the rare breed that has learnt "With great power, comes great responsibility".
I'm half way between the two, and hoping to attain the second. How about you?

Hi MY04 WRX.... I get it a lot.
Older blokes in volvos, bm's, mondeos etc ..... WOMEN in fiestas and other little hatches....
Only people I DONT have problems with are boy racers !!! But my partner does with them lol
Also had a bloke in his late 50's chase me round a Tesco Car Park, he was on foot, pushing trolleys into car... had blocked me into the car park ...police arrived... excuse?? Had a row with the missus and saw a blonde (no loaves) in a high performance sports car and flipped..... I didnt know this bloke and he didnt know me !!
Partner says ONE more incidence and car is going !!

Road rage is not a recent thing, it's been around as long as I have been driving (16 years). Been on both sides of it, and there are always two sides to everything. What would be interesting is to hear the Golf driver's version of things. There's probably some reason that he reacted the way he did, and flashing lights, fingers etc are just invitations to a nutter in a car, don't do them unless you're prepared for the consequences.
What I've noticed is that drivers who hold their hand up in recognition of a driving error on their part won't get any aggro at all.
If all else fails get a big white van like me, untouchable

She used her head and maintained a healthy distance between her and this Golf but unfortunately ended up behind him at a set of traffic lights . This tw*t had left at least two car lengths in front of him for some reason, but what takes the biscuit is that he started reversing towards her whilst she was stationary at the lights..!!! 
She clocked the number plate but was so shaken that she forgot it, but thinks it was P30 *** or P38***. She also thinks it was possibly a VR6 as she thinks she remembers badges to that effect on the rear and that it was possibly dark purple or blue. Oh and the guy was a "big bloke" with (get this..) "a kiddy in the front"..... It's easy being hard to a barely 5ft tall woman on her own in a MINI, eh..?
I've not seen her as shaken as this in a long time. If only he'd tried these games with me
However, bringing it back on topic, I had a MINI Cooper S before my MY03 WRX and I was intimidated all the time whilst driving it. I regularly had cars cutting me up, driving up my backside etc even though the car was Electric blue..!! As soon as I changed to the Scoob, it all stopped, I just get the odd Corsa or Escort stalking me now, but nothing worse than that.
WTF is wrong with people..? I certainly intend to keep my eye out for Mr. Golf when I'm in the Folkestone area next.
Any of you lot had similar findings after swapping to a Scoob..??
