Default Shell V Power FAQ'S

Just found this after getting my hopes up on a previous post on here, its off the USA site though?

It seems this fuels octane rating is'nt 100Ron after all, it is'nt even as high as our basic fuel.

Thanks for the offer - I may have to take you up on it if supplies aren't reaching the pumps by the new year. Are you at Lavender Hill in Enfield? I work in Enfield Town, so pass Lavender Hill every morning on my way down the Ridgeway.

There was an interesting article in the Telegraph today (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/mai...0/ixcity.html), with someone from the PRA claiming that "commercial considerations" were aggravating the problems getting fuel to the pumps. It wasn't clear exactly what he meant by this, but later in the article he implied the big operators were not listening to garage owners when they were telling them they were almost out of fuel.

Just a quick message for anybody looking for optimax.

Shell Aqueduct on Hampstead Road has got a load of optimax in their tanks.

Shell Great Barr is expecting a delivery on Monday.

The only problem is that both sites often experience queues onto the road, so this may be the case when word gets about.

And I can confirm that Shell aren't listening tot he forecourt owners and managers, they never do. They seem to be one of those companies who are too big to listen to the people with their ears to the ground.

Nope, DET does not only happen at high revs.

No optimax in my local garage in Yarm. Guy reckons they are getting delivery next week.
Apparentyly all tankers are ferrying normal unleaded at the expense of less sought after higher performance fuels.

US pump octane rating is calculated different to over here in the UK.
In the US it is:-
(RON+MON)
.......2.......

In the UK it is just the RON number quoted

I just been told by one of my regular Shell garages that they are not getting any Optimax for another 2 or 3 weeks (Shell had told them definitely this week). Still down to lack of tankers.

Maybe Shell are having problems getting their insurers to pay out on the lost tankers!

Which one was that? I see Tesco at Cressex have Supreme on a couple of pumps so I'm going to get my car out and go up there tonight and fill it up with that It's been in my garage for over a month now

Paul

The one without is the one I pass on my way to work in Enfield. I just found out they had a delivery at the Marlow Road Shell this morning, so presumably they have delivered to Hazlemere and London Road as well.

I used to swear by Optimax, but since trying the Tesco 99ron I'm not so sure. Price aside, my car runs better and feels like its happier on the Tesco (ah, bless it!)

Maybe its just me, but I've seen the tankers pull up to the same loading bay and connect to the same nossle, so is it any different? Who knows....

I had to put the Tesco stuff in as there was no Optimax around for the last tank and the car didn't run too well, was quite hesitant and lumpy. Had to fill up again today and the Chiswell Green Shell between Waford/St Albans still had no Optimax. They say a delivery is due there tomorrow though. I put the regular Shell unleaded in, just a tenners worth, and that even felt better than the Tesco's! Mine's a standard MY00.

Mate of mine put the Tesco's in his DC5 Integra though and he reckons it's rocket fuel!
