Would you object to a child killer getting caught by stealth?? No, thought not - so why should a speeding criminal in a car be any different??

BOTH kill children!!

"Please Mr Magistrate, I have a 3 week old baby boy so I couldn't possibly have been doing that speed"

Forgive me ............... but the kid has **** all to do with the speed you were travelling - that speed was 42, the gun says so!!

And they CAN hide from you .... there will be a camera warning sign somewhere ahead of the officer.

For your childs sake, and the safety of all those children playing on the sides of the 30MPH roads .............. SLOW DOWN!

Just take it as the lesson it is, and do some growing up.

Bloody hell Mr pslewis... Chill out FFS ! The bloke asked for advise not a bloody
bo!!ocking!

Granted......he was speeding, but there 's no need to go off on one!

You may not speed after your "lesson", but we are all human and we all make mistakes from time to time.

So your saying, on every journey you make, you are bang on the speed limit, all the time???..I think not.

Not sure if you are threatening me ,....... if you are then you are stupid!! Don't EVER let my good nature make you think I am soft!!

YOU are the one who mentioned your little boy in your defence - I am clearly stating that using your boy like that is NO DEFENCE whatsoever.

Now, grow up - pay the fine - and shut your face!! RIGHT??

I must say that it really makes me laugh how people react to Pete's comments. He does have an opinion on everything and rightly so. But people do tend to bite when he posts his thoughts and then he just reels them in for more. Fair play to you Pete.

If you want a laugh then look at the threads Pete has started or commented on and you'll soon realise what I mean.

I don't think so ...............

Best advice is to do what the original poster is going to do - pay up, smile and get on with your life ...... he has a young lad, Xmas is coming, he was only doing 42MPH, he should just put it down to experience.

Fighting a speeding offence is, generally, futile and a waste of life!!

Unhappy Absolutely...

Had hours of fun dredging through some old threads, like you said, there's some very interesting material in there, there is a lot of mileage on this Board

No point asking for a calibration certificate anyhow. Do you honestly think they would send a unit to work without a calibrated instrument? There would be no point for obvious reasons.
I guess you would also pay for this priviledge and to no avail. Like Mr. Lewis says they will only look harder, increasing your exposure to nit-picking vehicle scrutiny etc, etc.

Only real getout card is if they don't notify you within a reasonable time of the offence. I believe we are talking 2 weeks here. The reason being is that beyond that, it is deemed unreasonable for the defendant to correlate the punishment with a crime that they most likely didn't know they had committed.

This 2 weeks can be extended if, for example you changed address and the V5 no longer tallies - therefor it took time to locate you within a reasonable period.

Remember mate, if all criminals were smart, then they (Police) would be out of a job

Bad luck, it's all too easily done.
"There but for the grace of God" an' all that....

On the contrary,if you genuinely believe that you weren't speeding. Then it's always worth contesting

Don't roll over and die, just cos plod tells you to!!!!

Inaccuracies in hand held radar equipment have often been highlighted, there are many other factors that can effect the actual given readout.

I've successfully got off my last two nips

....and one was for 'alledgedly' doing 74 in a 30,yeh right,as if

Default By the way

Outrageous really but its true, a plod on foot suitably experienced, can stand in court alone and testify they saw you exceeding the speed limit for that area. They need not know exactly how fast you were travelling, only that you were obviously exceeding the given speed limit.

Now, as its a Magistrate who decides and not some public Jury of twelve as some people might imagine, how likely do you think it that you will be prosecuted?

Put it like this, if you saw a sports car tearing down your neighbourhood road surely you could be 100% sure if was obviously exceeding a 30mph limit? Say if it were travelling at a very real 70mph. I know I could. (and if you could honestly not judge it then you ought not to be driving anything in my opinion) Now, if I was a copper in a court room.... who is that Magistrate going to believe?

On the above, how did you get off the two nips? Was it technicalities then?

Steve.
