Haven't had Drambuie for a while - in the good old days we always used to keep a couple of miniatures in the car in winter to warm us up when the weather was bad and the car stuck

A DECENT Anis, (Pernod, 51, etc), topped up with plenty of ice and Schweppes "Agrum" (Citrus) flavoured pop*, in a long glass.

Very refreshing and a good appetite stimulant.

* "Agrum" only available in mainland Europe unfortunately. I import mine

What you call "older peoples' drinks" are good because they have stood the test of time. "New" is like NL's modernisation. Not necessarily the best.

I make my own Sloe Gin-hot stuff

Miller Pilsner is my day to day lager, or Stella if i fancy a change.
Peroni Gran Reserva is the Boss of all bottled beers that ive tried to date imo.

Wine I cannot drink at all, except Champange.

Moet, Krug, Dom and Veuve Clicquot are favs.

Spirits i drink are limited to JD and coke and some Glayva with a good cigar

Peroni has been around for years - I think Nastro Azzurro was bought by the Peroni Group or some such deal etc (My Italian's not up to much - but I'm pretty sure bothe Peroni & Nastro can still be purchased).

Either way Peroni was a firm favourite of mine 15 years ago

All of the aftershocks are pretty grim, my local does a shot called a flying scotsman which contains red, blue and green aftershock and baileys on top. It sounds rank, but is actually alright

Champagne - Veuve Clicquot (about the only champers I like)

Wine - most things white but mrs likes zinfandel which is a real fruity rose - damn nice stuff.

Beer - Corona n line - cant beat it for refreshment

Cider - Strongbow is nice in the summer. Dont get the whole magners and ice thing

Shorts - Southern Comfort & 7up or Pimms & 7up

Simon.

Failing that plain ol vodka
White Russian is also my favourite, tastes good with chocolate milk too. Finlandia with ice is great, as is blackcurrant Danzka with sprite. Failing that, G&T or a decent Aalborg snaps

Are we twins, separated at birth? Apart from the fact I'd put Glayva at the top of the list and add the rider that the beer should ALWAYS be ice cold - I'd say we were of the same mind (same mind, not sound mind!)

What it is about ice cold beer - even ice cold water doesn't quench the thirst quite like a cold beer on a hot day!
