FYI
In all honesty, it's FAR better to allow the Abscess to kill the tooth off .... then the nerves don't hurt when they get pulled out!!

Having someone drill into your nerve chamber and yank live nerves out is NOT that pleasant

But, it solves the problem ............... no nerves = no pain anymore - but, the tooth becomes very brittle and crumbles sooner or later

Why can't out teeth grow like Guinea Pigs?? Would be so much easier

Pete, hope you are feeling better
I had an abcess on my tooth a couple of months ago and the dentist said it had come from my sinus's. Nothing wrong with the tooth. Antibiotics cleared it and no bother since

Was a thread here a few weeks ago with reference to dental pain ... what was the best pain killer???

Before I top myself!? ............. dentists aren't open until Tuesday and then theres no guarantee I will get in (I bet everyone has been pulling fillings out over the Xmas break!?)

just take out your denture plates and give 'em a rinse. you've probably got a piece of carrot trapped up there.

Just got back from my dentist as it happens. Had a filling come out over xmas taking half the tooth with it........then kept getting sore so a trip to dentist (I thought about posting on SN instead but controversally thought I'd seek expert medical attention )Just had the pleasure of some root canal work, lovely sensation as she poked the nerve! put some stuff there to kill off rest of nerve and I'm back in on friday for more canal work/tidying up and filling. Hopefully that'll be an end to it.

Dentist Thursday 12 Noon ... pray for me

I'm going to tell him to pull the bloody lot out!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, and taking them ...... today the pain has eased - now, is it a tooth or gums or sinus trouble??

No-one seems to know ............... hopefully an X-ray may give the answer?

My money would be on an abcess and pain will have gone tonight/tomorrow as antibiotics do their stuff. X-ray will confim and emergency A&E or whoever you visited should have done x-ray when you visited. They only take a couple of minutes if that.

David .......... yes, I was shocked at why the Emergency Rota Dentist didn't offer more help - just said that X-rays are a routine procedure and I should see my Dentist (but that adds days of pain to the poor soul!)

The Doctor was more use, prescribed Anti-Biotics and strong painkillers (I know there is a limit to what a Dentist can prescribe, but an X-ray wouldn't have been too much effort??)

Oh, well, on we go ...........

Pete
