Reading the last post...."I dont have a watch."

Reminds me of a conversation in a sauna.

I was sat in the sauna at the local gym when someone asked me about my watch and whether it was OK to wear in the sauna. He explain his was only water resistant and not waterproof but its been OK, with that there was a bit of watch inspection, and conversation about watches in general. What does water resistant mean as opposed to waterproof, what does ATM mean etc etc.....

There were about 7-8 people in the sauna all lads all gym types, and all but one wearing a watch.

I knew the guy who wasnt wearing a watch drove a Bentley, as I have seen him out and about and he uses it to get to the gym, before that he had an Aston Martin. I assume by the cars he drives and the clothes he wears and the time he spends in the gym that he is loaded.

Anyway.....he chipped in, "I dont have a watch, I dont need to know what time it is...."

At the time I didnt think much of it, I just thought yeah whatever, and dismissed the comment....then I thought about it a bit more and it dawned on me that we are all governed by time and when your not, you have made it.

Later Yoza...very governed by time.

Believe me I have had some very strange conversations in saunas and steam rooms....and talking about watch water ingress isnt one of them.

In my experiance I think heat brings out strange conversation in people.

I went in the one at Total Fitness in Wilmslow, in the male changing area, and there were two chaps very close, who moved apart very quick and looked very sheepish...

All working fine, and all used for different things expect the original casio which was replaced by the ironman when I forgot a watch for last year's Peterborough Half Marathon

I've got a Rolex that was left to me by my grandad, which I wear quite often. My gran bought it for him at some point in the 70's. Could even have been late 60's. I'll put a photo up and let the SN watch experts tell me.

It is what it says...... a Rolex Air King.

I have handled lots of these watches and they all have SWISS MADE or T SWISS T printed at 6 o'clock, maybe thats just a poor photo.

Nice watch...enjoy

Was wondering more on the date. lol. As mentioned, it was a present given to him in the 70's I think.

Its got something at the 6 o'clock, although it just looks like a tiny symbol. Too small for my eyes to read/see properly.

I've got a Casio G Shock that's about 15 years old. I had it for my last few years in the forces and it's travelled the world with me since.
Very relible and i'm lost if i'm not wearing it. Only had one battery change in all that time too

Remove the bracelet. Between the lugs will be the model number and the serial number. You will be able to date the case to within a year or so by the serial number and youll be able to tell what exact model and calibre you have from the model code.

To date the watch you must take the spring pin out of the lugs at 12 o'clock engraved inbetween the lug is your model/serial number...

eg for the AIR KING no date models 4365 4925 5500 5506

And 14000 14000M 14010 14010M

Your watch can be dated from these numbers.

Is there defonately nothing printed at 6 oclock ie- -T SWISS T- or SWISS MADE ?

'T SWISS T' is printed there...just got the magnifying glass out.

Thanks for the info Simon. You seem to have informed me on a few different threads now. You must either be very knowledgable or very old...or a combination of the two?
