You right there,

When ever I own a scooby(2nd one now) Ive never got any money in the bank, but when ive got another car in the past, I always seem to be better off with a healthy bank balance.

Sometimes I wished I listen to Ps Lewis, and not modified my car, but its like telling a smack head to stop taking heroin, its hard to give up once you've started.

You'd have loved my modded cinquetento sporting, would touch 130 with the needle bouncing off the limiter in 5th gear, you should have seen peoples faces when it flew past them , dont do silly speeds like that anymore so no need to tell me how reckless I was being.

I out accelerated an evo 3 on a bit of dual carrageway in my 93wrx, and I had an extra person in at the time.

That was quite enjoyable for some reason!

Yawn, I think this has said before just a few times. I have disposed of a Front wheel drive Leon Cupra R with a remap . I have a lowly new age wrx with a remap at a pathetic 285bhp. Off the line and handling I left him comfortably.

If Subarus were that slow, why would everybody keep on comparing their cars to them?

Boxster came after me Xmas Eve but he lost it on roundabout and he ended up facing oncoming traffic. I'd already seriously embarrassed his 30 odd grand motor up to that point anyway! Not sure which model it was though. As hard as guy tried he never got to show me rear of it

Never take on a newer model Jag in a straight line if it has an 'R' at the end of the title and you're driving anything less than an STI PPP (or eq.). The fat old git looked far too smug when I caught up with him at the next roundabout ..

Can't wait to get the upgrades done.

No, that's the problem with the generally accepted standard of English that everyone puts up with on internet forums. No-one's interested in the richness and subtlety of information that can be communicated in a considered and precise way by the use of written word. It's all ur, urs, ne1, ad nauseam.

There's no wonder the subtlety of RR's sarcasm passed you by.

In the meantime, I think RR should **** off to his Seat forum and stop trolling the cool folks.

This is so right - the one that caned me shot off when we were both approaching 100mph - I might as well have been stationary - it just went mental -he looked over and gave me a big grin then laid down the power - I had to laugh I knew then he'd just been toying with me all along - there was just nothing I could do...

save it for the bends - then they're toast!

Yeah but they weigh as much as a small planet. I would have thought 300bhp scoob would keep up for a while at least.

Aside from another high powered 4wd car, these would be the worst to come up against at the traffic lights, they are just soooooo easy to get off the line quickly. TC on, aircon off, stamp -and I do mean stamp- on the throttle...it just does it for you. That supercharged V8 is a stormer. It's still not as good off the line and to legal speeds as a well launched high powered scooby 280+ (which is stomach churning if you get it right), but if you fluff the start forget about it..... above legal speeds, forget about it too. Jags are generally a bit too "old boy" for me, but you have to love the supercharged ones, it's old school power, not for old farts!

Also looks great in black with Gunmetal wheels. Respect!

Our '02 WRX is very quick upto about 50-60mph, past that any old diesel Volvo will pass it (and i can vouch for that is my mum has one ).

Get it onto a wet B-road though....

I notice that a lot of posts mention that approaching 3 figures (naughty, naughty ), the other car pulls away.

This is probably due to the lousy aerodynamics, 06 model notwithstanding.

I noticed after testing my car after a remap with hybrid TD04 in a classic 99, that the speed would rapidly drop, after lifting off, in a straight line from similar speeds.

As for boxsters, I tend to lose ground until the turbo lights, then pull past in 2nd or 3rd on boost. Probably siimilar characteristics to RX-8s, Saab Aeros, etc.
Best was a 911 which couldn't overtake, hitting his rev limiter through the gears

Had one. with the REVO, needed a LCD to help get the power down and fuel consumption was awful with the Revo. Uprated the spings and dampers but it never handled that great and no driver feedback with num steering; fun in a straight line and zero lag turbo. Should have kept it standard.

Sold it to buy sexy black a Honda Accord Type R; miles better IMHO. The ATR is the best FWD car I've ever driven as it's so adjustable and driver feedback through the steering rivals an M3!

Miss the Honda sometimes. but don't miss the lack of torque

Yes any Jag in black with no chrome looks menacing (well maybe not the X Type).

Though I disagree with stamping on the throttle at the lights, the TC will choke the engine completely. Far better to feed in the power gently and let it as pour on the power and it will blitz all but the super mercs and real exotica. If I had 60 grand to spend I'd take an S-Type R no question.
