Though I disagree with stamping on the throttle at the lights, the TC will choke the engine completely. Far better to feed in the power gently and let it as pour on the power and it will blitz all but the super mercs and real exotica. If I had 60 grand to spend I'd take an S-Type R no question.
I was in a XKR and the tration control seemed quite lazy, maybe the S type is a bit more aggressve in its action and is more amenable to the approach the mention?

If I had 60 grand I think I'd have the new Audi RS4 and pocket 10k or a Type 25 and pocket 25k. Actually, you can buy one of the original XJRs now for not a lot of money! Jags of that era don't seem to hold their value that well compared to the opposition.Great for 2nd hand buyers though.

i once pulled up at some lights along side an xj-R in my golf gti tdi 150 which was a pretty quick car,i recognised the R badge and knew what it meant but i thought what the hell ,sometimes its interesting to see just how much faster something is.
Well i swear he was doing 60 before i went for 2nd gear ,it was the fastest car i have ever seen go from the lights ,absolutely mental fast.

Dont know what thread you were reading

God knows how you've managed to perceive that as a scooby victory

3.2 boxster S will do 170mph will it not?

It was also boosted to 280bhp for newer models so i would hardly consider it a slow car.

Result seems about right if it was the 3.2. I'd expect it to be different if the 2.7 model though

The traction control (or whatever they call it) really choked the power output, you could hear it limiting the engine, but with a gentle right foot its an absolute rocket, not staggering eye watering accleration but relentless power and grunt. It really puts on the speed without you knowing it, defintley a stealth way of losing your licence.

I'd only touch the XJ though the other Jags just aren't put together right, very disappointing. Still for 60 grand I'd still settle for the S Type R, black of course. Though its probably more to do with being brought up on a diet of Sweeney Mark II Jag car chases as a kid rather than sound thinking.
