IIRC if the Sunstrip fouls the wipers blade they are illegal. So cut off an inch or so of the Wiper Blade they will be O/K LOL or just fit a shorter one

Surely the colour flasher lense cover does not matter as long as the indicator lamp flashes orange.

As for the Scoop, what a twonker thought he was dealing with a Primera or Nova with a scooby scoop on it LOL

Soon and any non standard replacement car parts will be illegal

The Police will soon replace Judge and Jury [Judge Dredd voice] " I AM THE LAW" [/Judge Dredd voice]

Two choices......Take a Fix Penalty for their "Opinion"
or they will just p1ss you around for 3-4 court appearances which they don't turn up for and you lose 4 days pay and was never ever Guilty most peeps end up rolling over and taking the fixed penatly hit

I've met a load of nice coppers who do a thankless job and also met a few complete and utter kn0bs. Subaru owners are not without fault, Most I've met are Enthusiast but have met a couple of Kn0bs aswell, luckily they are very few and far between.

IMHO IIRC

Blue side lights + illegal number plates = pulled over eventually.

Sounds like she got pulled after the copper had had an argument with his Mrs.

The Sunstrip is above The A line (Line Of Vision) The Numberplate has a pic os Scooby Doo on the left, and a Ghosted football Crest in the middle.
The Font and Spacing are Standard. According to dvla websit, you are only allowed a nationality flag on the numberplate. (It clearly States Football Crests are Not Allowed) So id say the Plates are illegal.

The blue Side/Parking lights are also illegal. so yes two offences were commited. However because my wife tryed protesting the fact it was Not her who was stopped earlier in the Night for the Blue Light offence. he get quite up himself.
I assume the radio Controller put the Vehicle details in, and when it came back as my street name, and as it was My next door neighbour who also has an Impreza, with Blue lights, he/she put 2&2 together and came up with 6. I know they can only go so far back in their logs. However it would Have been listed on intel. but they never checked.

However, the Car went straight Through an MOT as it is Now, it also has the cats removed.

The officer had said i bet if i pull the bonnet i will find some more illegal Items their.

I invited the SGT to send a Traffic car around to check my car for Defects, He actually said NO.

My car is Modifyed, and at the last rolling road was producing 350+ bhp However, every Modification is Declared. Even the Replacement ECU that cost me more than i Bargained for as it added an extra £250 to my insurance.
But i want the power, So i pay for it.
I do try to keep my car legal, but i do try to bend some of the Rules, like the Numberplate and The Lights.

I apreciate the Police have a Job to do, And the Fact that Subaru's are being stolen in my area, One of them on New Years Eve was used in a Ram Raid.
I would apreciate being Stopped, {Goodeveing Sir, This is Just a Routine check, to ensure this is your vehicle, as we are having a lot of these stolen in this area. The do their check, Thankyou for your Time Sir.} If this Happend to me I would Say No Thankyou! I apreciate being stopped to ensure that my vehicle is Not Stolen.

at least is shows they are trying to do their Job.

I will be posting on that police forum tomorrow, just to see the responce.

I will go as far as needed with this. I have a Carbon Bonnet on the car, and i am not intending on removing it.

Thanks
Derek

Feel for you m8, must be demeaning to be stopped in this way, good luck with the complaint.

What gets me though is that it's actually quite difficult to type while repeatedly and randomly hitting the caps lock key, how do you do it?

I shall write to Humberside police immediately asking them to remove the overlarge bonnet scoops from their three Sti's in current active service. I'm not being pulled by some copper in a dangerous stickered up illegal chavmobile.

Sounds like some of the police i've encountered . The thing is you dont notice the good ones, as they dont spend their time harrassing the law abiding public. My advice would be to take your car to a VOSA centre and ask them to MOT your car. Then use their report as part of your complaint.

It's a shame - I worked hard to get in the job but meet officers now who can hardly spell or write. When I see it I challenge it - personally I find it embarassing.

If you encounter it complain.... thats all I can say really - I mean, when you've been told to remove the scoop off your Impreza bonnet ...... I think I give up !
I could've written the exact same post, little better than criminals some of the idiots my force employs recently.

I would add that don't let the sergeant take the complaint, it should be the officers' Inspector. Suggest you complain about the sarge as well....one thing though, don't go down the "haven't they got something better to do route", Road Traffic duties are part of our job. Best of luck with it fella

when i bought my my03 sti I remember that the brochure mentioned that the car got an extra half star in the ncap crash tests for being pedestrian friendly cos the wiper-blades are designed to snap when head-butted. There was no mention of losing stars for the scoop de-capitating said pedestrian before reaching the wipers.

Shame really.. most coppers tend to be impressed by my car.. probably because I'm a young lad driving a fast car like an adult!

Really, follow your complaint, make sure your car IS legal and keep to the law! Let them pull you over as much as they like, just smile, write their badge number down and be on your way!

The following link might actually proove that a Subaru bonnect scoop may save a fatal injury? Think about it, if the new bonnet system pushes away from the engine, thus giving some space between the engine and bonnet. Surely the scooby scoop does the same? Its just permenantly depolyed, making its a more suitable safety device.

http://www.rospa.com/roadsafety/advi..._up_bonnet.htm

I wonder if Richard Hammond would like to try one of his 'Brainiac' experiments to test this theory?

I think the policeman's point of view is looking tarnished to say the least!!!

"Pedestrian protection
In addition to the bonnet energy absorbing design and detachable type modular wipers similar to those used on the second generation Forester, new features have been added to improve pedestrian protection. The top mount of the front suspension is lowered, and clearance has been maintained between the engine and the bonnet. This provides better energy absorption if a person strikes the bonnet, potentially decreasing injury. Detachable front wipers, impact absorbing fenders and hood hinges are used. Pedestrian leg protection has also been improved in the front spoiler area using advanced technology."

She tryed to explain that a scoop is standard for a Subaru Impreza, He told her to Stop Arguing, he knows the Law, and it is Illegal And MUST Be removed.
She said again, Every Turbo Subaru has a Scoop, he said No they do Not. If i see any with one they will remove them or the will face Prossecution.
I have Just Phoned Police and Made a Complaint.
Told them I Want a Traffic Office to Come arround, and Inspect My Vehicle.
Then I Got a Call From a SGT, Who Does not Know Anything about Scoobys Either.
Tryed to get me to drop the Complaint, by saying, i am happy to go ahead with the complaint, however you should be aware, after i have spoken to the officers, I am sure they will be a little unhappy, and could mention it to their collegues, although we like to think it does not happen, but in reallity, it does, the other officers, will try to find anything wrong with your Car. and they Will Prossecute.
But it Is Down to you.
I said it is ok I will Continue, and if i do get Harrassed, I will Speak To an Inspector about a Harrassment Complaint.
He is going to have words with the two Officers, and start the complaints Process.
It is Pathetic. And i think they had nothing better to do.
He started picking Faults after Sally Denyed being pulled over earlier in the evenng for the Blue Side Lights. She tryed to Explain it was our next door Neighbour (Mr H) who had the same lights. he argued with her, and told her she must tell them in future if she has already been stopped, when she tryed protesting her innocence again, then he got funny.
Derek
Go above the sgt mate and write a letter to the Police inspector. Not only was the officer's conduct unaceptable, the sly threat made by the sgt to try and get you to drop a legitmate complaint is serious misconduct.

Say you want the matter dealt with immediately or you will be heading for the Police Complaints Commision.

In six months of owning my First Scoob , been pulled over by the Bow Street Runners twice . . . . (mainly for driving fast/like a loon) . . . First time, the coppers chose aside from all aelse, to search me + my car for drugs which was totally uncalled for . . .Second time, the coppers just had a laugh and said " Just admit you put yr foot down, I like Subaru's . .Done it myself " . .So try not to take it too seriously . .Coppers do vary . .If i were you, just drop the complaint and get on with things . . .

Perhaps put a n ew badge on yr Scoob, and rename it ASBORU!!!

i have had things happening in the same way with previous cars

pisses you right off when the copper gives it the big "i know whats best, stop argueing with me"

best to let them get on with it and then complain about them, i can remember being banned from a mates street, after my brother had a fall out with somebodys dad and the son chucked a pole of his car

they just talk a load of bollocks and flash the badge to make you do what they want

I'd be interested to know the reasons they gave for searching for drugs...do you still have the search record, if not i'd be in my nearest station requesting a copy....some solicitors advertise to speak with people that have been searched in the hopes of finding an illegal one to prosecute....and yes i'm a copper, so i have a bigger interest than most in getting rid of the **** coppers cos i have to fecking work with them.....if you want to pm me about it please do
