Alreet Bennyboy - Just having a premature mid life crisis I think!!! Its a number of things mainly unhappy in my job which gives me about 24k per annum, so no I aint skint but its not a huge amount but I am totally climbing the walls at the minute. HATE IT.

All I ever do is work 12 hour shifts day in day out, got no lady (hooray) and all but one of my mates are married (chained) so I really havent got much to lose. I figured why not sell my car, rent my house and go and and chill in the sun for the last drop of my youth then sell the house and retire early to the LOS

Just feel like saying **** it - do somethin crazy If it all goes **** up I can always come back to my house and get another **** job. Sounds like a plan 2 me.

Sounds like a good plan, but why restrict yourself to doorwork? Whatever your P1 sells for should keep you in Sangria for a few months. And in all the tourist places there's all sorts of work if you're there early enough......

Or be a bit more adventurous and just head somewhere you fancy until you get bored there. Travel truly broadens the mind and you'll probably meet dozens of like minded people!

When I went to Ibiza, I was originally just focking around Northern Spain on my mountain bike for a few weeks. Ended up off course somewhat for eight months. Regret that I never did anything else like that (apart from I've just relocated to the states ten years later with my wife's job) as the last nine years I've just spent running up debts and working for the sake of it......

Put a map on the wall and chuck a dart mate.......

I've lived in many countries and enjoyed travel.
If you're looking for employment go to a tourist area that is frequented by your language group. Lots more fun that way.
The tourist areas pay a bit more also.
Present yourself well and you will be presented properly!
Best of luck.

A suit isn't allways necessary.
Check out the prospective place first.
CLEAN casual, clean shaven and good manners.
Relaxed attitude.
Personally, I made excellent money from tips in a few good dining houses.
Back in the 70s, in a Steak House, Ski resort area, $100 week nights and $200+ weekends was not unusual. I would rate that at 250 to 500 by today's dollars.
Go where the Tourist dollars/pounds/drakmas exist. Then go to the best establishments of that area FIRST !!!!!
Again, best of luck to you.

It's easy to think you have to have a plan and have to sort yourself out with an income ASAP. You sound pretty stable, if you can rent your house out and flog the car, just hit the road, Jack! You'll be surprised how nothing will change whilst you are away. When cash get's low, then worry about your income. Bar work, manual labour, door work, suntan loiton applier, selling melons on the beach!

Oh, and I defo wouldn't wear a suit whilst applying for door work in a tourist holiday spot......... Probably start a turf war!

Did the door in Salou for a while when I lost my license over here....didn't mean to but kind of fell into it and decided to stay for a while.

It's normally only seasonal work but like it's been said........no rules and should always work with a local speaking guy....otherwise the "banged his head on the bar" line might not cut it.

Best bet for definate work is to go to one of the greek islands where you get mostly English speaking tourists as the managers of the bars are more willing to have someone speaking the lingo than their cousins cousins cousin.

Bird count goes sky high too

and i'm the daddy mac......no contest

I believe so! Yeah, we had a bit off a sleep in - the boys a freak You shudda said you'd be in town me and the T (sorry, Tomo and I) would have met up with you for a quick Stella but then again I bet you looked like a right square if you were attending a job interview, my street cred would be ruined.

I got bored one day, sold the scooby and left my job to go Tenerife for 9 months. Nothing amazing but while all my sucka mates were working on monday morning i was booting about on a jetski with some pals and done 3 hours dj'in each nite.

until you get back you dont realise how much you should have done it ages ago. Its a great idea. You'll meet some great like-minded people too.

now im back in england, similar job as before i left and another scooby. wouldnt mind giving it up again, but the only thing is unless you really get your roots down abroad you cant really get anything to own for yourself - car, flat, etc. Most of the time your living with the cash in your pocket so to speak. hope this helps.

Wouldn't think there would be much in it, but you can assume they are both roughly half the price of UK for food and drink.

Try to find accomodation that isn't in the tourist areas, more with the locals. I did this by trapsing around the bars that we're in the quiet parts of town and frequented only by the Spanish.

Learning a few phrases now would be a massive advantage mate. People like to think you're trying with the lingo even if you're crap at it, especially the Guardia Civil!!! Being able to tell them I was English, working here, trying to learn Spanish got me out of a few situations and got me lots of help and respect!

I can imagine, my friend who works in Barca says the Spanish can be very ignorant toward him just because they know he is English. Good advice.

Really, I love Cyprus. Why does he only do 6 month, can he not work the whole season? Any idea.
