For info, i had a 3 bed apartment in tenerife in the middle of it all happening and this was 840 euros a month. between 4 people this was 210 euros each - not bad for a month. we had 2 bathrooms, nice balcony, sofa's, big kitchen. This was in las americas. If you get out of town its a lot lot less, but getting about is an issue - buses, etc.
I did aim to buy a ped and use that but never got round to it.
