Thumbs up Please vote for our own forum on SNet like the ESC's

Hi all

The Year of the Wagon is finally upon us and the wagons are at last being recognised as a group to be acknowledged

we can get our own little 'ScoobyWagons' Active Supporter badge like my ESC one over there on the left <<<------, the WYIOC, ESC etc all have these, would be great to get our own littel wagons badge

So, please read the below and post up with your support with a Yay or nay

I attended the Northen Big One with the Wagon Squadren on Sunday, and they won Best Classic, Best New Age and Best Show Stand.

As you are probably aware there is a long thread in general which has had over 18 thousand views and a couple of thousand posts.

They were wondering if it would be possible to have their own forum on the BBS, all the people i spoke to were willing to pay a £5 a year subscription like the ESC do. Obvioulsy this could be a good money earner for you as there are many wagon owners on the site, and it would be a place they can post in and organise their meets etc. It would help as obviously wagon owners come from all over the country so rather than having wagon threads in each of the different forums they can all come together in the one place

Have i sold it to you??

Let me know

Cheers

It was cracking wasn't it

Nice to meet you too mate

Another pic of your wagon

As for the wagon forum and badges, we need strong numbers for the SNet admins to give us our own forum and that on here, so just taking numbers at the moment to gauage interest. I will start a post on here so we can collect support

Superb Wagon Jay - really striking. As I've mentioned before most of the attention on the stand was generated by your Wagon. Unfortunately the Classic modified category was (along with maybe the 'Special Editions') the most competitive category to be in.

I like the idea of our own forum - but don't do it!!!!

Seriously - no Saloon owner will ever go in it. By having a popular thread in general we are bringing the obvious benefits of having a Wagon to a wide audience. If we hide away then the best car here will fade away.

Please - think it over.

Hi Jay

I think you and I have discussed your Wagon to death at the Services on the Saturday. From a Wagon owner point of view, seeing how we had both started at a similar point and "gone modifying down a similar route" was most gratifying. Particularly all the colour co-ordination. Your Wagon is a credit to your enthusiasm, and stands out a mile.

Oh and Jay, I hope the 555 Squadron stickers are now in a suitable place............your rank/promotion depends on it.

Hi Rob,

some good valid points there and you have a point, I think it only by spamming the events and general section with my 'calling all wagons' post that some people actually took notice of us and actually had the desired effect or doing just that and creating a bit of wagon hype. We certainly got them to bite on the WYIOC events thread

My angle though was that by having our section in the forum we can still post everywhere in the forum but we get the 'Wagon - Active Supporter' badge next to our names on all our posts to raise our profile, so wagon posts are in yer face an all the sections and we have our own section to post questions ... how many times have I asked a wagon question that is not really wagon related but not got an answer from a salooner because its a wagon queation, you end pretending you have a saloon to get an answer because if you mention wagon in the posts you get ignored. I am tired of this and we can post our own questions in our own wagon section, I was thinking if more waginers know there is a place for them and they wont get shunned, pushed to the back at shows or ignored at meets then they may get more actively involved, I've always felt wagoners think, there nothing for us so why bother, so we have to change the balance there

So summary there are good and bad points but at the end of the day I am ever concious of the traps that have fated many car clubs and that is to avoid like the plague the 'Us and Them' syndrome, we do not want to create a wagons only scenario, you can imagine then this could trigger a 'Saloons only' retaliation scenario. I think we are something a little different and have a community like RB5 owners or P1/ WR1 owners or even foresters do, but we mustnt loose site that we are all Subarus and all we all are 'Scoobies' whether it is a saloon, wagon, coupe, forester, legacy.

Food for thought, will jump off my soap box now

valid points made so far, i'll just stick my tuppence worth in too if i may; i have to be honest and sat i rather like being attached to such a cool minority and love the fact that we (wagons in general), are a little more underground than the salons...i don't believe it will be a step forward to announce our presence too loudly else we run the risk of losing the element of stealth and i think that’s one of the main attractions of a wagon.

i hope you don't think i'm taking this too seriously, but I like the idea of appearing out of the blue (or should that be diving out of the sun 555 squadron), and cleaning up like you were able to at NBO

Great thanks Ian.... sounds like the voice of reason

yes I do personally like the hint of secrecy and being in the cool minority as Ian puts it

I think it should remain stealth then if everyone agrees

I think this is one of the reason that the wagon stand worked at NBO, it wasnt just 30 wagons all lined up looking boring and all the same, they were more cool by there minority

I think that the decision to make this a 'Closed' stand to only those committed people that put therir name down on the list was what contributed to the stands sucess and also the enthusiam of each wagoner. It was definitely a case of quality not quantity ...after all we nearly got beat to first by the 2nd place 'Terzo' stand that had only one car on it

...Being in the minority is definitely a cool thing and after all I think we all bought wagons for different reasons but wagonism is all about individuality otherwise we would all buy a WR Blue Saloon with group buy gold wheels, spoliers and stickers and look like clones

I think we certainly did the classic Ninja Stealth move on the NBO trophies.. i think we should now disappear back into the background ready for the next stealth mission

We may have shelved the badge idea, because on looking into it, it doesnt go into our coffers but SNets, maybe we should start our own 'Wagon Fund' as started by the generous donations towards the banner

Attention Pilot Officer Miles

WRX Wing to STI Section???????????????

These things don't exist. Just because your exploits are now famous, don't go assuming you have earned the elusive "gold wing" badge !!

You have to reverse park a lot first!!!

By the way, can I have your autograph?
