you are missing the point of most of the replies crow , it's the total lack of concern given for the person he hit !! which by his own admission was his own fault , but it sounds like he didn't give a toss about the other car , person etc.. that is terrible !!

A major reason for high insurance premiums is becasue of uninsured drivers, nearly a third of your premium goes to providing cover for these idiots!

The original poster is in the wrong though, a car is replaceable and sadly a life is not! We all need to be a bit more responsible for our actions

I doubt he alone is the reason for your high insurance. Try the case that the cars are so cheap now that ppl can aford to buy them on the 17th bday!

I would love to c the day one of u crash (term of speech dont actualy want u to go out n crash) come on here for some help and get slated for thinking you had the right to drive the car in the 1st place.
Hi mate

The problem is the guy is trying to make out the accident was the cars's fault, not his.

If he had come on here and said ''i have messed up, was driving too quick, but everyone was ok'' he would have got a different response.

Unfortunatly a few people on here do crash, but most people admit it was their mistake, rather than blame the car 'handling like a bus'.

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear of this incident and am glad no-one was injured.

There are, for me, a few interesting points about this thread, a couple of which pertain to the wording of the title. I think it's these points that have lead to a general lack of sympathy.

1) "Well, it happened...." This makes it sound like you acknowledge that it was just a matter of time and seems to serve as an admission of, "I usually drive without due regard for the circumstances and have now come unstuck".

2) "WRX handles like a Bus..." You're suggesting that the accident was all the car's fault. A 2CV handles like a bus, you get around this by not cornering at a speed where the handling is an issue. A WRX does not handle like a bus, I respectfully suggest that this is a case of: 'A bad workman blames their tools'

3) As pointed out by several posters, regardless of fault, you've shown no concern for someone else's property or wellfare. The 306 may -in point of fact- be a "****box", but it was someone else's ****box and may have meant a lot to them. At the very least, having a car written off through no fault of their own is going to be upsetting and most inconvenient for them.

4) You've also given no indication that you'll learn anything from this incident, and not shown any humility. If you make a mistake, and we ALL have, then it's important that you have a good, hard thing about what YOU could do to prevent it from happening again. Otherwise, we'll just be back here again in a year.....maybe with less fortunate consequences.

I'm sorry to hear about your car, but your attitude -or at least the attitude you've exhibited on here- leaves a lot to be desired.

What Daz should do is express some concern for the owner of the 306 on here maybe?

It sounds as if he has actually sorted things out with the 306 driver amicably so we probably have the wrong end of the stick, but his statements sound bad.

I've made mistakes driving, but fortunatley not hit anyone else. Only time I caused damage to another car was during a tyre failure on the M6. As the car slid down the central reservation, it sprayed stones onto an Esprit coming the other way. I was very apologetic to the owner and did feel sorry for the damage to his pride and joy.

I think someone LOST it in the twisties!

Thing is with the Scooby, its got loads of grip when doing full bore starts and powering out of corners, which can give you to much confidence when going into a corner at silly speeds, Next thing you know your understeering into a tree or a 306.

Sorry to hear about the bad news mate, I know Insurance can be a nightmare Im only 23 had a Scooby since I was 19, I drive round like a ***** most days, because if I smash this car up, Ive got no chance of insuring another Scooby, Then it will be back to the cheap hothatches again for me.

I'm hoping this is a wind up, the wording and the lack of continuity in the story make it seem so. To start with it was the cars fault and you showed no concern for the other person's welfare, as the posts came in coating you for these things you've changed your tune.

Also in the first post you were 23 and later on you became 22

If this isn't a wind up i can only hope you can't afford another fast car as you are quite obviously a complete *****

As most people have already said it's not the fact he lost control , but the attitude.
I lost my 1st Impreza on a bend and was all over the road before getting it under control. Lucky for me no other car was coming. Calmed down a lot after that as it would have been 100% my fault if I'd killed someone. Glad no-one was hurt though.

If my thread wasnt like this how boring would it be and what would all you nerds do on your friday nights? At least you all had something really constructive to do instead of being in the pub.

You were only down the pub cos you had no car to sit in at McDonalds car park. That's cos your a **** driver who crashed his car.

Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll get another car soon, then you'll be able to rejoin the Car park possie.

A 2CV handles like a bus
Actually, the 2CV is acknowledged to have pretty good handling.

In the same way that some mags applauded the original A class Merc for having good handling.

I had a go in one once, for a laugh.

Never again!!!

OK! This guy is only 23 and if you check out his history he had Civic type R before he obtained his Scooby ,very expensive to run & insure at that age..This means he is either a self-made man ,in which case good luck & weel done, or has had a leg up from Mummy & Daddy.Judging from his totally selfish attitude I would assume the latter.

So picture this,he has been talking to his mates giving it large about how he has best car , what a great driver he is & how he can beat anyone etc, etc.

What do you do after you crash due to an unforced driver error? Obviously you know you have been a complete tw@t but that won't do your image any good will it.
So being 23 you front it out & give it billy big boll@ks in front of your mates.Describing how your car is utter rubbish & not up to your advanced driving skills & to cap it all some poor person had the audacity to be on your road in his rubbish car at the same time, you would think the plebs would know better!

Now you might be able to get away with this explanation down the pub with your mates but if you post on here you are opening yourself up to a much wider audience of experienced drivers who know the score.

Lets be honest I would probably have done the same at your age under the circumstances ,I hope without the utter disregard for other road users you display, & believe me I have been lucky like you & walked away from my mistakes.Remember theres plenty of people on here who have 'been there & done it'.

Silly mistake made while driving ,big mistake thinking you can get away with that excuse on here!

So be careful who you brag too & remember a little bit of humility goes a long way.
