With Iran being so much larger than Iraq both in size and population, and seeing the mess that Iraq is in at the moment, I wonder what would be the result of trying to do the same to Iran.

On reflection, Iran really shouldn't be allowed to develop nuclear weapons if that is what they are doing and remember the doubt and subsequent diproval of Iraq's so called WMD - potentially that is where we are heading if military action (particularly from Israel) were to happen and for all my aforementioned reasons this is why I cannot see the US allowing Israel to take action.

easily. the main problem here is mahmoud ahmadinejad. it's remarkable that, despite the israelis having had a nuclear capability for more than 30 years, they can now be the cause of the problem when a mentally unbalanced former mayor of teheran gets into power, re-starts a nuclear programme and declares he wants to wipe israel off the map.

we know that arab and persian totalitarian regimes all despise israel and the jews: but most have pragmatically realised that they're there to stay and have reached an uneasy, fractious, bad-tempered and violent accomodation with them.

if anything is the core of this problem, it's the unforseen side-effect of us toppling saddam. saddam kept the iranians in check; that check no longer exists and iraq faces a profound struggle to prevent itself becoming eventually subsumed into iran as a reunified persian state.

without wishing to be trite as i can appreciate your points, there isn't an israeli behind every middle eastern crisis. sometimes it actually is the other guy.

Its pretty clear they want them - one of the most oil-rich coutries in the world wants to build a nuclear power station to generate electricity?.... hmm

The president of Iran has come out with some pretty worrying statements recently we shouldnt forget.

He would like to see "Israel whipped off the map", and will have nuclear weapons soon... I can understand Israel might have an interest in stopping this weapons programme.
And just because you dont agree with them, you will wipe them off the map too (who gives you the right)......and dont tell me that if Iran wasnt oil rich.....they'd have the same stance on them...

What goes round comes round......dont be so stupid and try and justify it.....weve got enough spin doctors around.

hmm.....
