RedRex etc.
Are you really unable to work out which gear to use in your car. Can't you feel when your car is "chugging" or running smoothly. There is no excuse to drive at 10-15 mph over the limit because you say the engine is chugging. Is it too difficult to change down to find out? People are quite right to be hostile towards speeding in constricted areas. Too easy these days to hit a child or elderly person and your attitude is particularly selfish.
JockC79,
You can try as hard as you like to justify 64 in a 30, but you will not be able to find a successful defence however much you bluster on about it.
Your use of language and insults is particularly childish and only serves to weaken your argument anyway.

It must be said that I know of one slip road off a motorway that goes from a 70 to a 30 and, as others have also noted, it has a big sweeping bend. It is 2 lanes, there are no junctions, houses, footpath and basically no access to anyone unless you are dropped in by helicopter. About a mile after the 30mph limit starts this slip road does meet a normal suburban road where the 30mph limit is certainly appropriate. However, the police just flock to position themselves to "do" people on the slip road just after the 30mph sign. In normal road conditions to be doing 60+mph at this point would be safe and reasonable and well within a reasonable reading of the suitable speed for the road.
As an amusing aside my aunt was on a normal service bus which was stopped on this road for speeding. The bus was largely populated by pensioners etc. going to do their shopping and when the police waved the bus down and got on to give the driver the verbal NIP they were met with a torrent of "why don't you go and catch real criminals" and similar comments from the passengers.
