Which is why these things have a diminishing effect the more expensive the equipment is. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

waste of time !!

i bet your tv just has normal sockets rather than gold plate

gold is just a bit better at not oxidising, the cable itself is where it matters most.

too much BS in the Hi Fi industry !!!

True enough rgv, BUT gold connectors do often mean an upgraded cable too...

As Chip Sengravy mentioned, Vaseline it one of the best things you can use to prevent connector corrosion and also to waterproof external conections. It does not create any extra electrical resistance or cause any loss of signal. Since it was recommended to me by a professional aerial rigger I have always used it on the connectors for my Ham radio aerials. I just pack the connectors with the Vaseline and screw it together and have never had any water ingress or corrosion ever. I also use it on my TV aerial connections.

It hardens off a bit after a while and is resistant to being washed away by rain.
