Without putting a downer on things - I'd say Brun's first quote of £6.5K is much closer the mark. We all know what the car is capable of etc, but this counts for nothing - it's a buyer market and prices have dropped considerably. I would agree that your car *is* worth closer to what you've got it up for, but that is not the same as what people are prepared to pay (I speak with experience of selling my similar-aged (although higher mileage) WRX about 6 months ago). Bit harsh, I know, but that's the way it is.

He'll buy it for what you want then??

Get back there NOW and snap his hand off!!

Ask if he will sell on commission? Say to him that you will 'bung' him £500 cash if he lets you leave it on the forecourt and he gets buyers to look at it and ring you up (works absolute wonders, his bosses will not be paying him £500 per car sold!)

You get a captive audience then!!

I think Pete and Brun were correct in posts 12,13 you are trying to sell the ugliest scoob going, its not going to be easy when a classic is cheaper and nicer to look at.

Would you pay to **** an ugly bird when there is a cheaper better looking one around the corner?

Hope you have some luck and shift it.

Perhaps the car is an 8 pinter!! I might need to try and shift it down the local boozer!!

Actually I quite like the shape, I am sure there are people out there that think the same. Im afraid the classic shape is starting to look a bit dated unless they have had a bit of work done to them.
And NO i dont like ugly birds!!

Is it worth advertising it on this chat site?

Ditto, i would never think of looking on the exchange and mart website. I have just sold an 03 wrx through the autotrader web site, its £15 for two weeks and always gets a sale if the price is right. I sold mine for £11500.

I still think this is a bad time of year to sell a car. a lot of people buy at the start of summer.

Get some good quality photo's. put it in here... (forsale section) LOTS and LOTS of detail.... then on all your adverts just link them to here...

I would seriously consider putting it on ebay. I've just sold my old Peugeot 106 GTi on there, included loads of photos and details in the description and it sold in a few hours for a good price. It's the first time I've used it to sell a car but I wouldn't hesitate again.

By doing this the market will find it's own value and, by setting a reserve you won't have to sell it for less than your 'bottom' figure.

My advice would be to do an advanced search on there for similar cars for which have already sold for a good price and basically copy their adverts changing the details as necessary.

Yeah - just the website - probably no real need to put it in the magazine as well, which costs a lot more (and gets you more bloody canvassers). I expect >80% of Subaru buyers will probably start with the website (total % guess, but look at the demographics on here!)

Get some Morette headlights on there, they will cost a few hundred (unless you can get a 2nd user set) but should transform the looks & shift it for you, especially when combined with a keen price.

If it hasn't sold for a year, and no-one has even come to look at it, its not worth the money you want for it regardless of what you think it's worth or that it has had a new clutch etc. Simply, it's too expensive. Just because dealers have them £1k more, they could be sitting their for ages too, but it doesn't bother a dealer like it does you. Drop the price to £2k less than a dealer and you may have a chance...

As for ebay, be prepared to get less money than you want, and be realistic. People buy off ebay to get something cheap (in most cases). Not to pay the same as they would via a private advert.

Maybe it's the title:

Subaru Impreza : IMPREZA 2.0
If it's a WRX, you should have WRX there as buyers may think it's the non-turbo version?

I'm having similar troubles shifting my Silver bugeye plus a friend has only just got shot of his silver bugeye....so maybe the market is flooded

Ps. your price (£7995) seems pretty good to me

Exactly... which is why I cannot even get £10k for a 53 plate WR Blue WRX. Full uk warranty, Prodrive springs, STi front bumper. I bought it new from a dealer 2 years ago for £21k!!!! ... bugger.

Fortunately I have paid off more than half the finance, so I am just going to hand it back to IM..... then order a Euro MY06!!
