About 12 years ago my mate had a crappy white escort van. Standard tyres, wheels, bodywork, rust etc What was not standard was the turbo engine (220bhp) from a cossie I think.
After a weekend away 4 of us were in the van on our way back when we come accross a Golf GTI 16v. My mate went for the overtake and the GTI put it's foot down. We did the same and sailed past him. I'll never forget the look on the guys face as we went by
I bet he took it back to his dealer soon as to get it checked out

a friend of mine has a series 1 rs turbo (not exactly a sleeper?) and it has a 4wd modified cosworth engine running 8 injectors and loads of 500 spec

Porkie pies methinks
I have seen the tt engined clio going up the pod and it does fcukin fly, surprised a few people with the early runs
