no- they should have shot it on the first day- the thing was never going to get out alive. healthy whales dont swim up rivers.

(net it???? they would have given it a heart attack, helathy or not)

Really sorry it did not make it. I was glad to see that they did their best for it in the end though.

I see . I didn't realise you were a marine biologist. Whats to say some other influence altogether forced it of it's normal route and up the river?

It wouldn't have taken a genius to work it out, but apparently it died from lack of water, fancy that.

hmmmm....really.

It was either dying or stupid- either way, shoot it and get on with life.

.

When I said this to the wife when seeing the story I was told not to be so callous - the whale should be given a chance.

It was always going to end with the poor sod being dead - why allow it to suffer for days.

Anyway - it probably died from eating that missing penguin

You know what. It 's sheer daftness.

A whale meanders up the Thames and captures the media spotlight and "experts" on how to deal with it.

Whilst some pikey dumps 6 horses ona Hospital car park in a obvious poor state of health, untethered and left to roam by the busy main road, and the police's response is "we don't have anyone to deal with them" Your the police FFS, DEAL WITH IT!!

I didn't know it was cycling? Maybe it died from taking drugs in preparation for the Tour de France, and it was up the Thames sussing out the road layout for next year. Yup - seems to make sense now

Well spotted Brendan
