I was lucky enough to fly the 747-400 simulater at Cranebank. That was also very nice to fly and the bent beam approach into Kai Tak's southerly runway was very easy to cope with.

Mart,
I have landed on that runway a good few times with the VC 10. That approach on the video ended up like that because they must have turned late with no allowance for the crosswing from the right. They wound up left of centre with drift to the left. In all honesty they should have gone around and made another approach, they were extremely lucky if they got away with that landing anyway.
If the final turn was done correctly, the landing was not that difficult even with a strong crosswind. I would have been "strung up" by my bosses if I had continued to attempt to land off that one especially with passengers on board.

If it's the Korean Air 747, I believe that the pilot received an official bollocking for that and the aircraft suffered over $1M damage - massively overstressed undercarriage and the bottom of one of the engine cowlings struck the ground as well...
No passengers, though - it's a cargo flight.
Les, thanks for keeping providing me with reasons to believe that helicopters are so much better

Ha ha Simon, well i did enjoy the bit of "hicopleter" flying that i did do.
Thought I would remind you of that official amendment about Helicopters in the RAF Manual of How to Fly which got misspelt and never forgotten afterwards.

Got to be Concorde
Once happened to be in the long-stay carpark just after dusk as she took off - all the car alarms were set off, and seeing her blast away over the M25 with afterburners alight truly brought a lump to my throat.
