Mr Burns - are you related to Montgomery Burns off the Simpsons - because you sure talk a lot of s***e - excuse my French. I get up to 190 miles from a tank from my E7. Any sti will have a similar ride to any evo, and if you want a soft ride - dont but a performance car - buy a Jaguar .

Okay Everyone, It was me (Got a warning on MLR about all your discussions)

Just to put you briefly in the picture:

The car is a Warrender 340R, I had come back from RC Developments after some work, that needed doing.

I has a decatted exhaust, HKS air filter, Apexi S-AFC fuel controller, Apexi AVCR boost controller - set at 1.45bar, Modified Power Boost Valve, modified fuel pump, lowered etc.

Was on a dyno about 4 months ago at PE and was producing 349bhp (with the cat and at 1.4bar) - awaiting for it to go back on for new figures.

As regards to Santa Pod....
Very difficuly launch, on the snow setting it gave move power to the front, but I completely lost 2nd gear!

Second run, switched to Tarmac setting, and many may have seen the car hardly moving, just sliding sideways - could not get the power onto the track - very slippery.

Final run - snow setting again, but very embarrisingly almost stalled it.

Other than that, the cars great!! I just have to admit - I can't do 1/4 miles!!

Nice one Antsevo,

Ignore the jokers you find on here. If you are happy with your car then thats all that matters.

Ants,

Not having a pop, but would've thought if you've got 349hp, even if you do wheelspin in 1st gear, your terminal would be a lot higher than 95mph?

95 terminal......

And the cars got all that, i think you should take it back

Examples....

400bhp Cossie 116mph
360bhp scoob 115mph
400bhp MK II 124mph
240bhp RST 115mph
330bhp cossie 108mph

Is it becoming clear...

349bhp EVO 7 95mph

Only joking........or am I

I was probably at the start line for about 2 seconds!!! Spinning

As regards to ternminal speed, all of them were over 100 and my times were less that 15 seconds.

I did not mention it earlier, because the printouts are at home, when I get the I will post the times for you.

Please also bear in mind that this is a new car, and its still my baby!!

Got a run on vid that was 15 and 95 terminal, so unless there was 2 EVO 7's (black) you must have the wrong slips

hey Ant, see my post earlier - I was the chap you were up against in the yellow astra who came to see what was up with your start.

your car really has 350bhp ? - blimey check out your slip because we were almost evenly matched in-gear on the latter 1/8 of that run - my old banger only has 200 and something - can't be much more than 170bhp at the wheels - unless you were in the wrong gear or lifting off or something ??

As I said earlier, it had only just come back from RC Developments, and it is still a new car, I don't fancy shelling out for a new gearbox, and I am still weary of whether the car is running too lean, although that is no longer a problem.

I am no expert at 1/4 mile runs, this was in fact my first ever in a Evo, in fact the last time I did one must have been about 10 years ago, ONCE in a VW Golf GTI 1800.

fair enough - I'd be cautious too with new metal - I just can't get my head round why you weren't picking up a lot better than 75-96mph odd past the 1/8 mark

pls don't feel picked on

Big respect goes out to AntsEvo, brave enough to take a brand spanking new car down the 1/4 mile. The value of a small house if anything went nasty. You have to treat these motors with respect and they respect you. Its a specialist car and very technical, he was trying different settings and also not having done them before, getting used to the starts.

Please give this bloke the respect he deserves and stop being a total bunch of tossers, jealousy doesnt suit you.

If you were seriously interested in his motor, why didnt you bother to take time out of your bitchin and ask him about it?

Trash a scoob? dont worry, there 10 a penny.

leave the boy alone...the car is simply the nuts...if you pay in XS of 30k for a brand new car (which you probably wont as scoobys are 10 a penny)then he is brave to even join the queue. This car would probably swallow up and spit out 95% of privately owned scoobies under equal conditions.

ps...do they still make spares for astras?

Scrap,

We're all tossers? check your own post - if the cap fits, etc etc.

I'm not bitching about his car - fairplay to him - but he's running similar power to me and SimonEVO and we both ran at 110mph - us both not having great starts and mine missing.

Just would've thought his terminal would have been higher, that's all.

Wilf,

"But if you want test times Autocar got the 6 down for 11.4 to the ton (only 0.2 slower than the Extreme and a suspiciously fast time)"

You're quite right to be suspicious. The Evo6 that Autocar tested was most definitely non-standard (see the exhaust?). Most other Evo6 tests are around the 13-13.5s mark. Much more reasonable for a car with around 200bhp/ton.

Hi Guys!

I have an Evo 6 TME. In France, we only get 218bhp Subarus, so they are not as fast as Evos. But in the UK they are appearently as fast or only a tiny little bit less fast.

Adam is completely right when he says how can a car that is heavier and not more powerful be faster in acceleration? The gearbox is not much shorter from what I have read. Note that Ralliart Germany quote 0-62 mph (0-100 kmh) 5,3 seconds for the Evo 7 and 4,9 for the Evo 6. They would certainly be more than happy to tell us if the new 7 were faster. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Now the fact that one person who owns an Evo 7 does not get a good 1/4 mile time does not necessarily mean it is slow. Playing with the clutch on the Evo takes practice: under 4,000 and you stand there, over 5,000 and the clutch burns and you stand there too.

Appearently the Evo 7 is so much stiffer than the 6 that it is marginally faster around a track. But that does still not change the fact that doesnt look as good

AJW,
lets see now shall we?
the last of the old shape uk cars that came out (ie the my99/00) had STi suspension, ie my car!!
is it as hard as an evos??
NOPE!
Oh and u may get 190miles out of a tank, ive had over 400 out of my scoob that means you still have to keep stopping to fill up
But as you evo freaks aint taking much notice of what im putting in my posts and just slating scoobs why dont you go home back to your own BBS, if you read what i said and its true, the subaru is a better car for the uk and the evo aint, but the evo is a better track car than the scoob, just to point it out AGAIN!!! and i would want an evo but i couldnt live with it day to day and id only use it for track days as it isnt practical at all for my needs so there

Tony
(waiting for the first MAN who has an evo and the GUTS to apologise)

Tony,

I don't find teh EVO too stiff for UK roads. Before I bought one 5 months back I was concerned about this esp. as I run it everyday for getting to work and for the family (including baby in teh back !)

Thing is, the suspension is fine for me. In fact if it wasn't for the wife I would stiffen it even more. Compared to any decent drivers car I have ever sampled its not especially harsh..... its just a matter of what you are used to and what you prefer.

From your posts its pretty obvious that you want one. You could always soften it with eibach springs if you wanted.

The bloke who started this thread clearly wants an Evo, but the poor sod can only afford a Mark II Escort! Lads, let's start a whip round so dingo can get himself a better car, like an XR3i or something.

Steve.

Steve C, i actually think the MK II is a mint car to drive, otherwise i would have something a little more expensive (as you put it)....

After all the MK II has won, the Touring Car Champ, RAC Rallies 4 years running.....and is still competitive and really whoops most cars on the Road, Rally and track....

When my car comes out after the winter Mods there is no way i will be getting rid...Prefere embaressing EVO owners
