EVO 7 at S-Pod, very slow......
#91
Here's my 2p
I have been in an Evo 6 and 7. straight after each other. but only as a passenger. This was at Brooklands a few months ago.
The 6 felt aggressive and fast where as the power delivery in the 7 was smoother.
Both cars felt quicker than mine (STD 95 WRX) and I would not say they were slow.

Jason id want you to come down here but i dont think you could afford the fuel and trust me that if you have never driven outside of cumbria you should try it as there are so many places with roads that would make you a little nervous.
If i was going to do anything then id find a neutral venue as you know the roads up there and i know the roads down here, wouldnt be fair otherwise would it?? and apart from that i dont go racing on roads when you can have serious accidents but ill go have a test drive of an evo7 for you and then one in an sti7, just for comparrison if you like??
Blow dog,
Im not trying to start a war here but when people come on and slate the cars that we drive (and i havnt slated any evo i just said that they arnt as good on uk roads and better suited to the track than a scoob as im trying to be diplomatic ) but it doesnt mean i wouldnt want one for the weekends, its just not practical for my needs thats all (or my back )

what a load of ......
Mr Burns,
if the PPP scooby is supposed to be uprated then I shudder to think what the standard one is like.
My somewhat modded early evo easily outperformed a PPP car.
ppp owner said the major difference was that his ran out of steam at 5K revs and mine (5 years or so older remember) pulled hard right to the redline.
and the later evos are certainly quicker than mine.
so lets stop dreaming
Have you driven an evo 6 / 7 ?

Think someone doesnt know what there talking about Juan as my PPP'd turbo pulls strongly upto the red line, just ask the M3 driver and his 321bhp that couldnt keep up with me
They may not have the push in the back feel that you get with cars like evos but it goes and goes and keeps on going
And as you no doubt are doing this in a friendly way as i havnt slated the performance of the evo you can put some smiles on your posts if you want? and ive only had one post thats said that i would probably like an evo and that person has it right but its not suited to the sort of miles/driving or the roads i drive on and i couldnt live with it on an everyday basis thus the reason i said its a better car for the track than on uk roads so with your construtive imput you have just given ill let you sit back and read the WHOLE thread before you open your mouth and put your foot in it
Tony (with a slow PPP'd turbo uk car that kicks ferrari and M3 *** )

Come on guys the Evo versus the scoob debate is a bit long in the tooth now.
Put both these cars on the roads with equal drivers and there would be no difference between the two.
Evo = fast 0-60 fast cornering (and easy due to AYC) slow topend.
Scoob=fast 0-60 slower cornering high top end.
Having owned a modified wrx and now a evo 4 with no mods the performance is about the same.
The top end winner would be the wrx
the cornering winner would be the Evo.
I loved owning a scoob !!
I love owning a Evo 4 !!

so you have driven a 6/7 then? or even any evo?
If not, how do you know whether they are less suitable for the roads? I have considerably stiffer than standard suspension and the car is a joy. Maybe its the seats I don't know but its the most comfortable car I've owned. Less roll makes for more comfort I find myself.
You are correct on one point for sure; after reading the first three pages of bobbins I just had to skip the fourth out of boredum. It is a tedious subject but at least I have first hand experience of UK scoobies (standard and PPP) and the evos (III & V), therefore am somewhat qualified to put forward a fairly factual (subjective I grant you) viewpoint? No experience of a WRX though.
some attempted smilies that don't work follow:
:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
be very interested to hear you reports on the test drives of evo7 and sti7. Hope you approach both with an open mind.
so far we've established that a modded wrx scooby (ie, fair amount more power than ppp) can compare in some areas to a standard evo4. Lucky that M3 didn't come up against either of these or he would really be upset! ;-)
