good ridance to subaru

I don't think that Subarus are the best cars in the world, however I think you'll struggle to find many cars with the performance of an Impreza, for the same money. Add in great handling, reliability and practicality as well, (I need 4 doors as I have a kid, I also need a resonable sized boot). IMO they look really great as well. I got a classic shape when it was 2.5 years old for £12,995, I would like to know what would deliver similar performance for similar money? Any suggestions please???

Right VRXBOY....you keep saying your VRX is better then Impreza's and say Subaru's are crap. Yes your VXR might be as quick as a standard UK WRX, but try it against a STI, P1, classic WRX, 22B etc and see how your beloved Vauxhall gets on.
As i have said before compare the VXR to a STI, and a WRX to a SRI for a better comparison.
Then f**k off to migweb where you'll fit in really well!!!!

Bet you've got a WRX not an STI so how would you know. I had 2 wrx's, and without the upgrade i had a littl eplay with a standard ctr and i struggled to keep up. Have you even got a scoob or just a poster on your bedroom wall? There are some people on here with scoobies who despite their alliegence to the brand are not so far removed from reality they actually beleive the Subaru is the best car in the world. They make worthwhile comments and know what they are talking about, they may still prefer their scooby but know other cars can actually be better and faster than them. There has been sooo many WRX humbled by ****box threads over the past year or so that why are people so surprised when a good new car comes out that would embarrass a WRX. Can the love of the brand be so entrenched in you that it is impossible to see anything without looking at it through scooby glasses.

I drive an astra vxr, and a 3 litre 5 series touring 5 series for the dog. If you want to start talking about what we should compare, just wait until the VXR sprint comes out and the sti, 22b and all the others will have a very big fright. But i am not so biased, cos i used to have a evo5 GSR track day car and that was rapid but never metioned that did i

(If it is anything like the VX220 Sprint they shouldn't bother, i was at Santa Pod on the Vauxhall Performance Day when it was beaten by a normal VX220)

I'm sure the Astra VXR is a perfectly capable car, but looking on Vauxhall's site it says 0-60 is 6.2 seconds, which is pretty quick but not as quick as the Impreza. Obviously 0-60 isn't everything but I would have thought that the Impreza would win quite comfortably through the corners?

0-60 in the VXR is slower than the impreza, but once going is faster, yep in the wet twisties i don't have as much confidence in as i did in the WRX, but when its dry its also quicker, i have a little route near where i live everybody blasts it down, country roads, all kinds of bends and straights, timed it with a mate, his carrera4 blew the **** off the scoob, I knew teh VXR was quicker on straights but surprisingly the VXR was quicker than the WRX, on the whole route (only just over a two seconds) Who says 240 is at its limits, there are cars with more front wheel horses than the Astra Vxr you know and they dont have problems either. And if your talking about the old GSI, that was a **** car, not the same as a VXR

Not sure that timing sections on public roads is a particularly clever way of judging the speeds of different cars?
Also why is the Astra quicker in the dry, is it easier to driver or something?

Oh, and how do you know my GSI was ****? Did you drive it?
(ps...child school stuff, i believe your VXR is **** aswell...tosser)

For you info VXRBOY a guy who has driven my old Astra AND the VXR says the VXR wouldn't come close to the GSI. But i'm sure you know better than him. His discription of the VXR....OVER-RATED!!!!

No not calling your car ****, i also used to have a astra coupe turbo not drove one once, which was essentially the same as the GSI and it does not compare to the VXR, so calm down tit.
Paul3446 I know it is a bit stupid to be thrashing it on the public roads but who has'nt ever done that. But neither of these cars were designed for a track anyway. The VXR is a lot smoother to drive than the WRX but i would'nt say easier, you do get feedback from the VXR above that which i used to expereince in the WRX, it was on these roads that the back end went walkies on the scoob, (it was tail light) before i knew it i was spinning round with nothing to do but kack it.

From what you have said about your driving ability you might be best in a fwd anyway.

Sorry mr schumacher. Maybe it was the just the car could'nt take it. Never had any spins or even near spins in the evo, on a track giving the full beans. You should buy one if you can afford it (best affordable 4wd car there is)

Who said i was lifting off
The VXR they had on top gear was not a production model, it did not have the full VXR running gear on it. The meganne gets panned in every review i have ever seen on it.
