I have a MY93 WRX-RA, this too has had work carried out by RCM.
Currently it has in the region of 300/310bhp, that along with a short box is quite a handfull.
The mod's continue this year, though only going to around 340/350BHP, along with that an AP 330mm 6-pot brake kit & what ever it takes to get there.
The plan from then on is to make sure it handles & stops, at the same time protecting the engine by adding the relevant equipment. Then taking as much out of the car as possible, mainly down the Carbon Fibre route & possibly loosing interior, of course with a full cage.
Ok the car will only do about 130/135mph, but hell the 0-60 will be impressive, as it is now, though i'm sure not much more improvement to be had under 4-sec's without going mad with launch control etc etc.
That's quick enough for me

Not read the whole thread, what spec is the car, not just the engine, brakes, etc as well.
Good luck with it.
On a personal note i have (been luck enough to have) driven three 600+ BHP cars and they felt very very, very fast, did not do top speed runs but accelleration was, well, almost painful but made me giggle nervously like a girl (apparently a normal reaction when you do something like that for the first time).
Not sure what take off will be like i would imagine some sort of launch control system - the Porsche Carrera v10 (manual) did not (that i could find) and had a small clutch - it stalled a lot and would be a pig in town i would imagine - so i hope your car has a decent clutch which is a decent size!
Best of luck and i expect a full written report on it when you have got it back!

To be honest I cant believe your asking this, by the fact that you have to ask says your in trouble..
All I can suggest is you dont run it at 600bhp, get them to drop the boost to Half the boost until 3 months time..
600+ bhp isnt plesant.. theres no simple way to describe it.. do not ever press the accelerator whilst accellerating to over take unless the car is straight!!
and for FFS if you havent got decent brakes, suspension and tyres then DO NOT Drive it.
Renew your health insurance and check the car insurance is valid as I suspect you'll be claiming on one or the other!!
Good luck! - Your going to need it

I would suggest that 600bhp is just too much for a road car. It should almost be illegal for it to pass an MOT unless it has other proper upgrades to go with it.......IMHO ........

Personally I think its madness but then I havent got that kind of money to throw away.
If the car is going to be used as a promotional tool for a business or high speed testing then fair enough. As a road car using money from someones back pocket its screw loose material
You cant compare it to a supercar, its like saying a caterham is better than a carrera GT

i have ridden road bikes with power to wieght ratios well above that of a 600 BHP P1. If i had ridden it when i was 18/19 then i would not be here now.

Fair play bud, if you have the money then go for it! I am sure you have probably thought about other cars before going for it.
Enjoy the car!
Oh, might be worth buying a radar dector

That isnt aimed at the thread starter as he has already stated he is or has made additional changes.

The main reason i am doing this is to get into drag racing ,it will take me all of this year to get it ready ,first the engine ,gearbox and axles, already sorted the brakes out, uprate the suspension, after that roll cage, racing seats,
the list never ends, just wanted to know if it was safe to run on the road with this sort of power.

Quite, the Enzio i drove was quite docile until you firmly planted your foot, i had to get it out of an awkward enclosed space and had to back and forwards it, it was just like driving any auto really, engaged the bad weather setting and off i went. low speeds even in the normal or sport setting it was really quite pleasant. Race setting was another matter!
not sure why 600+BHP should be difficult to control as long as it is in the right car (properly set up and able to use the power safely) and with the right driver.

But I would say that you can have to much power in a road car, but he has stated that he is building it for drag racing and a fast weekend car, So hopefully he wont be driving it on damp wet roads.

I owned a 500+bhp Rs500. Please note that was RWD. Tbh.... that was a handful at times....much worse than a car with 4WD would be, and as a road car it was absolutely fine.

The car will be fine if prepped well (as I am sure it will be)..... it's the thing between the seat and steering wheel that normally causes the problems!

Shaun.

Marty, one assumes that RCMS won't need your shell to build the engine, can I suggest that while they're doing that you take it way and get it seam welded and caged...you'll need it!

I think you should have bought a fully prepped drag car that has been proven. As Davyboy says, there's a good chance your going to take your car home on a trailor unless RCM are doing all the drivetrain as well?
Team ICE car has had 4 times that amount spent on it to do drag runs reliably at that power level IIRC and I may be correct in saying that it has broken on the strip as well.
To the chap who said: "You will have something very special, very fast and very unique, and when those run of the mill super rich, super cars come up the road giving it the look at my wallet look how fast i am, you will destroy them completly, with just another Subaru." how many supercars have you seen on your daily drive and how many actually give you a race????

A classic with 550-600bhp will have almost identical performance as a Pagani Zonda. The power to weight ratio is very similar, and up to 125mph I would expect similar performance.
The Scoob may beat a Zonda quarter mile time however. It's 0-100mph time will be about the same in the 7s bracket.
The classic chassis can take a surprising amount of power however David is right - full boot on anything other than a straight is barking mad.
In terms of getting used to it - yes you do - especially drag racing.
At first it is brutal - then after using that kind of power for a while it gets kinda fun. Still brutal in first and second - but in third upwards you start to think - mmmmore!!!
A well sorted car will be brilliant to drive - however even if you think you can run it with the boost turned down and only use 400 or 450bhp I suspect you will not resist the temptation to turn it up again.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And finally, expect things to break. The most unexpected things break - such as shearing a gear from the shaft by shearing an uprated 5mm Woodruff key.
Or the gearbox, or clutch, or diff. This level of power if used in anger has a limited shelf life compared to a lesser powered car as everything in the drivetrain gets more stressed.
Also the torque you should see - 500 plus - will snap driveshafts easily on highly tractive surfaces, e.g. dry
Good luck - you will enjoy it!
