where does that site show income tax rates for 2006/2007 ???

just realised - he's just added on the new PA....that wont be the rates in April.

Well they are quite right as they will pay more.... What hes getting at (I think) is that Stamp Duty you get to x amount and you pay y % on the whole amount. Whereas IT only charges at the higher rate for the amount above your threshold.

You know eactly what was meant, they think after a pay rise they end up wuth less net pay as they suddenly get taxed at 40% on it all

So for a higher rate tax payer, the increase in pay packet is about £17.50 per month of spending money.
