Decision made for me. Clutch plate doesn't pair up with the new flywheel the location dowels are in the wrong position completely. As are the holes for clutch plate bolts. The flywheel must be for a six speed??

Do you want me to fetch the new one back to you David??

is it only the thickness that is different (and the dowels)?

Same diameter?

Quick update.

Car is running in nicely. Engine runs like a dream. I have done about 1000 miles in it now. Hopefully some 740 injectors will turn up on Monday courtesy of J Healy. It will be mapped with the Power FC the following week and I also have a couple of good leads regarding the turbo choice. Sorry I havent been posting much but I've been out driving her at any opportunity.

to be continued...

AndrewC was telling me that we both seem to have a similar outlook on the turbo front, so I'll keep tabs on where you're headed, just fitted my engine on thursday, 210miles done

I have made my mind up on the turbo front.

I'm going for a GT3076R with a 0.63 exhaust housing.

Jim you'll have to let me know your spec so we can compare notes lol.

Andrew is going to Map my car initially. At the moment its running an Ecutek and 440's but he'll map my Apexi power FC for the 740's. Then its turbo time. I just have to source it all at the right price as its expensive when you start adding everything up, turbo, uppipe, down pipe external wastegate etc.

Daz - looks good mate - will be interested to see the results once you're finished. I'm building a strengthened 2 litre like yours, but will probably opt for the MD321T as opposed to the rotated setup

is this going on a 2litre?

1bar at 3800rpm in fourth on a 2.2litre btw. More work might get it lower mind.

A little?

How have you got the WG plumbed?

That is really really late IMHO, is your cam timing right?

or are you sure mikee sold you a 2.2 and not a 1.6

lol.. standard STi3 cams and cam timing..

Wastegate is currently plumbed ignoring the shut side and treating the external wastegate like a normal actuator on an Apexi 3port using AVC-R..

perhaps this is why I have not broke the gearbox yet.

Takes a lot of duty on the AVC-R to get boost.. 70% to get 1bar.

Was planning to try a Dawes this afternoon.. rest of the car is sorted enough to start playing now (except the gearbox)

Advise taken on board!

I believe the turbo is a GT3076R with .63 exhaust.

You'll probably be finished before I am. I've just kicked my job into touch and am about to finally take the plunge and launch my own business.

Keep me posted.

It is a long story but basically :

didn't buy it new.. drove car with it fitted and saw RR dyno plot from it for 525bhp.. turbo was spec'd for that car and owner was not 100% sure of the spec..

A good weekend eventually. Went over tho Andrew C's place to fit the Power FC , 740cc Nismo injectors and to get the car mapped. Ironed out a few niggles but couldn't get rid of an occaisional misfire at 6500rpm. Strangely it's not boostrelated and only did this intermitently. Came home via some excellent roads across the Yorkshire dales so gave the car a good workout. I got to the A1 and it started only firing on three cylinders checked all the HT leads etc and couldn't find the problem so I decided to limp home.

Plugs were re gapped and on doing number 3 plug I noticed the injector plug had come off so I fixed that. It fired on all four again so I took her for another run expected the missfire to have dissapeared but to no avail.

Andrew had mentioned that I may need a set of colder grade plugs as I am using 6B's at the mo. Once I am happy that the missfire has been sorted I'll probably glue these poor fitting injectors plugs onto the injectors as I cant see myself wanting to go any bigger than 740's. Then if all is well its time to pull my finger out and get this turbo bought.

Have you trimmed the end of the injector plug (on the injector)?

Mine I took a stanley knife to mine and trimmed about 1mm from the injector this allowed the electrical plug to go on further and clip better into place..

Sounds like might have to do the same, on number 3 at least.

Cable tie the plug to the injector, means its easily accesible should the need arise, and it wont come off whilst cable tied.

The 6's will be too hot for sure. Go to 7's as a minimum, but i would suggest 8's, and i suspect that may cure your misfire.

Injector plugs were cut to fit the Nismo injectors, Daz knows what to do to make them stay on

I am certain the misfire is plug related, PFR6Bs at 0.7mm have no chance, there was a definite pattern though, after a cruise or pause in mapping there was no misfire, after a couple of power runs the misfire was back, richening it seemed to make it less severe but timing made no difference. Happened as soon as we went over 1.1bar. Not sure the aftermarket plugs leads were helping either.

It's a shame because the car pulls really well, revs very smoothly with linear power delivery which matches the 6 speed well, definitely deserves a bigger turbo (and brakes).

That sums it all up nicely and I definately agree about the brakes

I just found I have blown the gasket on my wastegate so hopefully my 3800rpm to get 1bar is wrong!
