OK so which plugs to go for??
Can anyone recommend a specific plug??
NGK PFR7B?? or NGK iridium equivilent?
Heard bad reports on the Denso Irdiums so want to stay away from them.
Anyone who can supply a manufacturer and a model number of heat 7/8 plugs that they would advise please do so.
Cheers
Daz

Pentland components are a top outfit and i can personally recommend them. all the prices are good and delivery within a day or two.
RCMS have told me in the past that the old and the new NF are identical, and i stand to be corrected but im not sure you can the old one with the darker label anymore.
The website is not the greatest it has to be said, but just email or ring them.

PFR7B's were put on the car today. It has improved but I still have the occasional misfire at around 6500 rpm. When this does happen I get a knock reading of between 70-80 on the PFC commander. But if I remember rightly Andrew said this wasn't det just the noise of the misfire. Andrew could you clarify?
I have gapped the plugs to 0.6 mm.
The only things left to check are the HT leads. I currently have some magnecor ones but I am going to bin these in place of some brand new OEM ones from Subaru.
Failing that I might have to invest in a new coil pack.
When the car doesn't misfire it really does pull well and everything is very smooth.
Anyone have any thoughts??
Cheers

Daz, we run standard subaru leads on our cars, we have had problems when we havent.
I have both a spare coil pack (i think) and plug leads if you need to try some. 2 are certainly brand new.

Daz,
I'm certain it wasn't det, timing and fuelling above 6K are safe.
I think you were suspicious about one of the plug leads yourself?
I would also check the crank sensor as there were a couple of spurious rpm readings, but I didn't see that again once those bullet connectors were removed and I soldered the wires back together.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
Also worth checking all the grounds are good, both to ecu and the engine...
Ive had so many damn missfires to fix in my time
You could try putting a small washer between the block and the crank & Cam position sensor.

New HT Leads have beeen ordered from Subaru they should be here tomorrow morning. I'm pretty sure its them thats causing the problem.
Just needed to know what else it could be. The strange thing is the car didn't do it before I put the PFC and 740's on. However, the car is defintly pulling harder now these have been fitted so I am presuming that some kind of threshold somewhere has been breached due to the extra fueling.
I'll keep you posted

Daz, it could be you have very similar problems to what i had on my shake down day at Elvington in April.
You have painted your block, etc havent you? Perhaps, scraping some of this away around the earth pounts might be a good idea, plus adding a couple of extra earth tags.
This may be a simple solution.

Might invest in one of those earthing kit jobbies too.
I'll look at all the earthing a bit later on when its cooled off a bit as I have just had a run to Cleethorpes to part with My Firestorm backbox ( a little mor £££ to add to the development fund )

I have paid some attention to the earthing points on the car and have run new cables and eathed the following.
Inlet manifold both sides, block- bulkhead, both cylinder heads and the Apexi Power FC casing has been earthed too. However I still cant get rid of an occasional misfire.
The plugs have been changed to PFR7B's, the HT leads have been replaced with brand new OEM Subaru ones. I don't think it's the coil pack as it only does this occasionally. Anyone else got any ideas??

does it happen when on boost or when on cruise?
It given revs, does it bang out of the exhaust when it fires again?
Have you fixed the injector connectors?
Clean the ground on the front panel, as thats the main chassis ground.
Personally I see little point in grounding both heads, and the inlet.
I'd do block, and inlet. where is the engine loom's ground connected??
Pull the two connectors apart behind the battery and use electrical contact cleaner on them.
You could do with seing if the ecu is loosing sync and ref but I know nothing about the PFC.
