Right,
just got back from my test drive, have been all over the car with a mate.
It HAS a prodrive certificate.
It HAS prodrive on the spoiler and exhaust.
It HAS NOT got blue hoses they are red.
It DOES pull like a bloddy train from 2 1/2 thousand revs.
It DOES NOT come with any warranty what so ever

Undecided....

The silver 03 car in question that is NOT wearing the prodrive grille or bumper!!
Sorry Frayz.
My apologies.

But the post at NO#5 ASKS if that car is a Prodrive, it doesn't state that it is.
My post STATES that my car is a Prodrive.

It would not be unreasonable due to the ambiguity of your response to think you were refering to my car.
Perhaps if you had been a little clearer in your response the confusion wouldn't have occured.
If Crazyman 1979 was mis-led also he wouldn't know what a Prodrive version really looks like, and that is what he is trying to find out.

This is his response immediately after you posted your response to me.

^^^ No worries dude, i can see my reply was not as clear as maybe it could have been.

Crazyman, both cars pictured, the bleu one and black one are genuine prodrive models with the correct body parts etc.

The silverone youre looking at may be a prodrive model but it is NOT wearing the genuine bumper or grill as is fitted to the blue and black cars.

hope that clears a few things up.

Okay well im fairly convinced it is a PPP now since it has the certificate and i would deffo phone up prodrive and check if i do buy it.
What concerns me now is the comments on crash repair and that is comes with no warranty, is this normal not to even get a 3 month warranty?

So could it be a non prodrive model but still have the PPP (305 ps) ?

Id do some more homework about the cars, decide exactly what you want and the shop for one!!

I turned down a 330bhp blue version of my car for a standard black one of which i will end up tuning to 330bhp+

I agree with Wide. There are plenty of cars and plenty of bargains to be had. I bought my WRX at the end of December thinking I got a bargain only to find that there were plenty of other cars out there for the same price.

No Warranty??

No Salie!!

It's a dealer isn't it?

If they want to sell it as seen it WAY too expensive and really questionable!

There are hundreds about, people just can't sell them .......

NEVER buy the first one you see - each one you see will show that the last one you wanted isn't as good as the one you're looking at - why? well, you become so 'tuned in' that you can spot a bad one within seconds just by the look of it.

A dealer can walk around a car, state the mileage without looking and tell you what its worth without opening the door or running the engine - that comes with experience ....... you can almost do the same thing if you look at enough of them.

Good luck!

Pete

the guy said it was not normal to offer a waranty on performance cars, this is not a subaru dealer just a car dealer, would you say that this is normal or should i be looking for a warranty from any dealer?

Im on the fence about weather to buy it, the dealer reckons if i get the same from a subaru dealer with a warrany it would be 15-16k so im getting a good deal....

cheers

The car in the picture looks like an STI, but it is not an STI Prodrive. Many sellers wrongly describe cars fitted with ppp as STI Prodrive's. As said earlier the Prodrive model has a different front bumper and spotlight covers, a different front grille, different sideskirts ,high level rear spoiler rather than the standard WRX one and they have blue dials rather than black.
I suspect the car you are looking at is an STI fitted with the Prodrive Performance Pack, the PPP should have a certificate from Prodrive or you should at least expect a receipt for it.
Be careful, the car may just be a late registered model but 03 reg Bugeyes are few and far between.

Just a thought but have you looked at www.subaru.co.uk ? Click on the approved cars section and you can look at all the scoobys at the dealers nationwide.

Don't rush into buying the first one you see ! That silver one is gonna come back and bite you belive me. There is no reason for a dealer not to offer you a warranty unless he knows that something is not quite right about it !

Act in haste and repent in leisure!!

Never was a truer word spoken when it comes to Subaru Imprezas!!

Many have been thrashed, modified and abused ..........

The one you want is the UK one owner car with FULL Service History AND a Warranty if its a dealer ............ £100's off if its private!

Name & Shame the dealer who was selling it so others know to avoid them !

Any dealer who states this 'no warranty on performance cars' BS knows something about the car that the buyer doesnt.

Even small backstreet garages ( if they are worth their salt ) will give a 3 month warranty on used cars - any garage that doesnt have enough faith in its stock to do this should avoided in my book.

If I was spending £15K on any car from a dealer, I'd expect at least a 6 month warranty as a matter of course, and preferably 12 months - there is no way I'd take a gamble and just hope it isnt going to be knackered.
