I've got most of the Hayward & Scott kit on my car MY02 excluding the headers and catalytic convertor. Two questions:

What effect will the headers have on the sound? Lose the burble and be quieter or slight burble noisier?

Performance. Approximately, what increase in torque would I see and would I have to have the TEK 3 remapped again?

I take it this will fit perfectly between the downpipe and 2.5" centre section? ie this:

Matt, sorry to keep buggin ya mate, but any news on this? Cheers, Dave.

Sorry, the headers will lose the flat 4 burble and make it a tad quieter, the down pipe cat replacement pipe will work well with the rest of the exhaust but you won,t pass the MOT.As for a remap would advise it .

Hi Ian,

I'd be very very tempted to go for the jap style angled back box. I have an 03 sti ppp, but am wondering what are the noice levels going to be like for track days. I'm due to have an APS cold feed air filter in the coming weeks.

How much all in am I looking at for the rear box, plus a bung with fitting?

Many thanks .

Zuby

sorry guys have been away for a few days. I see that Ian has answered the questions. Sorry for not being around. If you need anything give me a shout.

Zuby - jap back box is £180 + vat at the gb price. The bung has a gb running as well which looks like it will be £30 + vat. Fitting, Ian will have to confirm for you.

Edited to add - the bung should make it fine for track days. Tried mine the other day and it makes it a lot quieter than normal.

cheers,

Matt.

Just for info, I phoned Dawn earlier today and placed my order for a decat downpipe, centre pipe and jap style back box for a classic). Having them fitted the weekend after next.

I'm also getting the bung for the back box so I'll add my name to that groupbuy as well.

Cheers!

cheers rmtyper for taking part in the gb.

can i interest anyone in a set of the h&s headers? at these prices you'd be mad to miss out. i fitted mine yesterday. the noise they give the car is, imo, far better than the usual scooby sound. now i just need the anti lag to go with the rally car style exhaust note, lol. plus the extra horses and torque that you gain are impressive too. must admit though i put a decat downpipe on at the same time so a few more ponies gained there as well. if the arsenal weren't playing tonight i'd go for a rather long drive.

Right guys, the gb has to come to a final close. The deadline for orders is the end of next week, Friday 17th March. So get any orders in pretty sharpish!!!

Thanks to all for taking part and thank you to Ian at Hayward and Scott for running the group buy.

Matt.

Mneame - Thanks for the help. Yes it's a 2003 WRX. *sighs* Just seems a lot of money for 18" of pipe

Is the New Age Sports Cat down pipe part of the GB and does it replace both Cats? (So I wouldn't need the above as well)?

Cheers,
MM

i'm sure that Ian said that they now do a sports cat that removes the cat in the downpipe and the one in the centre section. This was in the group buy as well.

Ian can you confirm if above is correct and a price for Mark.

Thanks,

Matt.

madmark - post number 27 has the answer.

To save money we now do a one piece down pipe that removes both cats and will link directly on to your centre. With a cat this costs( GB price ) £450 +vat The pipe is 3" and is coned down gradually at the end to 2.5".To order and pay if you can ring Dawn ( 10 -2 ) and give her your details .

Thank you

Ian

I was being slightly mischevous as I imagine it should improve power, torque and throttle response?
- My 03 WRX has been RR'd (G-Force & P.E) at 260bhp and 245lb/ft torque with just a Green Cotton filter, H&S Centre pipe and Prodrive Backbox - so it would be interesting to see what a bigger cat'd DP would do ....

Ian / Matt,

Thanks! Funny thing is that I've seen it advertised in Evo Magazine - but it's not listed on the H&S Website.
