I went to a rolling road day at WRC Tech last weekend. Here's the graph for a comparison.

Davey P,
I have just updated the modifications forum with the following:

Moving on from Stage 1, while still keeping cost vs return and driveability paramount.

Work has now finished and ALL Stages of current modifications (engine, handling etc) are complete and we have a huge amount of information and data to write up. Unfortunately we are busy prepping the car for events at the moment (we successfully won the ScoobyShootOut Handling Champion 2006 title), running at TOTB V and also Time Attack. As soon as these events have finished we will be able to finish off these stages of articles for publication.

Apologies for the delays.

Hold tight because it will be worth the wait!

P.S. We are also looking at a final, final Stage of modification to top the whole project off! More news in the near future.
Regards,
Shaun.

Well on my T20 found them absolutely awesome on a Road or Dry track but a bit twitchy on a wet road but predicatable.

At a very wet Castle Combe found fair grip in most corners but very twitchy on camp and quarry. Definately a dry/damp tyre and a lot lower pressure would have helped

Judging by the amount of standing water at Castle Combe on Saturday, I think your car would have been better if it had surf boards fitted instead of tyres Tony.

Hi
Fantastic write-up and it's great to see someone who enjoys their car so much

Got a boring question for you and the other JDM owners out there.

Insurance

I've ordering my Type20 today () and I was quoted the insurance for a Spec-C which was the same as a Mitsi FQ-320/340, but with the Engine mod it bumps it much higher

I'll update my current policy until next Feb when my annual policy expires, at which time I'll shop around for a more competitive quote.

Can you '06 JDM owners say who you're insured with for the basic STi SpecC and comparatively the Type20?
If you're willing to say on here - roughly how much you are paying?

.
L&V £800 fully protected NCB and trackday cover. I've had two large claims.

My is a STi T20 rather than a Spec C T20. My insurance quote was for a WR1 !!!! but they classed it a an Equal but rang twice double checked and all's OK with them. I was only £50 dearer than my Type R mainly due to the Cars Value.

Gary at Kieth Micheals is sposed to give the best quote for your a new Policy

Nice one - thanks guys

I'm with Greenlight at the moment (and have been for the last 6+ years).

I don't have any claims and have full NCB, but I have 6 points which is a bit of a git (1xSP30 and 1xTS10 - both last year)
My current quotes are in the 4 figure area

I was all set to buy a new Spec C from litimports, phoned up and spoke with Iain, discussed what else would be going on the car etc, asked for insurance companies to try, Iain suggested a few and I called them.

After a day and a half, I could only get one company that would insure me, at £3000 with a £1500 excess.
I was gutted, as I didn't want a UK spec car and the test drive in the c was really very good
I have never made a claim from a policy and have 1x TS10 (first points in nearly 20 yrs)
Anyway, good luck with the insurance, personally I couldn't bring myself to part with £3k for insurance when my daily driver is worth less than that!
BIG apologies to Iain also, I should have called to say I wouldn't be there on Saturday, but finished work early on Friday and got twatted instead

£3000, bloody hell!

I insure my type 25 (harder to insure due to it's none standard configuration) for £850. I use A-Plan, they are excellent and understand what the cars is.

How old are you, and how NCB to you have??

35 3/4, maximum no claims (9yrs?)
To be fair, I had just moved and the post code was not listed on the insurance db (the road had not yet been adopted by the local council or something like that)
Had to compromise and bought PPP'd UK sti
Does have carpet in the boot though

Well at least you got £3,000 worth of free fuel.

All I needed to tell Greenlight was that it was a JDM STi SPEC-C, 350bhp and how much it cost. All the rest is factory spec

I did a comparison using Tesco's online insurance against a UK STi to see what difference my points made (SP30 and TS10). They quoted 750 fully comp with no points and 1250 with my 6 points.
