This is very reminisant of my threads just after I bought my MY02StiUk and PPP was being developed, I just couldn't wait believe me if "Prodrive" could deliver it to you earlier, if They could

IIRC PPP has to be cleared by IM(UK) and Subaru (Japan) and not a case of print some rolling road report out and bung it on blow your engine up You might have warranty but "You" take the 3 month wait for the repairs to be completed

If i were a betting man, I'd be broke but I reckon PPP will be available very shortly so I'd get your orders in as the queues will be large again

Tony

Ps,

Don't believe anything a "Salesmen" Tells you he knows far less than peeps on Scoobynet IMHO IIRC

I remember waiting for my MY02PPP the torment but it was well worth the wait Ok didn't it add big bhp and torque fiqures (only use for Top Trump/Pub talk anyway) but made the drivability on the road far better and the all important Warranty. IMHO

BTW I (will) have a Jap 2.0 model so no personal need for the new PPP but if it were a UK car, be first on my list. Though this may sound Bias to others reading this, so just stating I have absolutely no links with Subaru or Prodrive.

Your dealer should receive the parts next week iif they've got your PPP on order. 270ps and 420Nm are the headline figures but they don't tell the whole story

Hi Mike,

Any news on the Forester PPP yet (release date and power)?

I had one on order from last November with my local dealer, who has now gone bust (B*ST*RD) with my money.
Looks like I'll be paying twice for it so if you tell me 80 extra bhp and a 50% increase in torque I will be very happy!!!

Many thanks

Simon

Mike, thanks for responding,

Excellent - that's about what I expected on PS and torque is impressive. Now I've got to decide whether I try and find a demonstrator (probably hen's teeth) or just sign up, invoking the wtf principal.

If anyone finds dealers with PPP MY06 discounts, then spread the word ............

cheers, andrew.

Default PPP for MY06 - £1700 inc vat & fitting

A little more information on the MY06 PPP is on the subaru.co.uk website. Not sure how long it's been there, but I've not seen it before.

£1700 inc vat & fitting.
Nothing official on bhp / lb.ft. 'More to follow ...'

You can navigate to it from 'Home, Accessories, Merchandise & Parts, Accessories, Impreza 2006MY, WR Sport'. Direct link is: http://www.subaru.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Su...3?Opendocument.

Now we need to know about any interesting discounts ... !

cheers.

will take it to 375 bhp with a remap and full3" exhaust and induction kit for £2000

This is the debate: whether to preserve the warranty or not. And: 'one-off upgrade mapped to your specific car' vs 'much more development effort on a generic upgrade like PPP'. Also, I'd guess that insurance companies are a little easier on the PPP mod they have a listing for. Then the custom upgrades are cheaper as you say ...

I did an ecutek on my MY02 STi which was very good, but I'm now leaning towards the PPP for my 06 WRX, but it's by no means clear cut ...

cheers.

I have the PDF files of all MY06 PPP's (STI, WRX, Forester) but no server to host them, if someone is interested I can send them to him for hosting!
Basically they inlcude backbox, remap and I/C "Y" hose on WRX-Forester or fuel pump on STI.
They'll have soonly TUV and DEKRA approvals.

Thanks - this is interesting.

Comments best left for that thread, but slightly surprised that the WRX PPP 0-60 isn't lower than 5.3s.

Surely this isn't some Subaru politics to put some distance between the STi and a WRX PPP??

I'll probably still go for it. I hardly if ever do 0-60. The more real-world in-gear shown look impressive:
> Old WRX PPP 30-50 in 5th = 11.2s
> New WRX PPP 30-50 in 5th = 4.7s
(Erm ... not that I do 30-50 in 5th that often ...)

Your right it's NOT like a MY02 2.0ltr Sti but it is a MY06 2.5Ltr most peeps agree 350 BHP is safely acceptible on 2.0Ltr STD internals, so 175 BHP per Litre, times that by 2.5 and would expect 437 BHP from a 2.5Ltr.

So look for Torque gains and not BHP gains IMHO.

A slight analogy the experts will totally disagree but Hay-Hoo, here we go

Think of a Lightbulb BHP is like VOLTs and TORQUE is like WATTS.

You want Lamp Brightness(WATTS) or if an engine power(TORQUE) does it matter if the bulb is 110Volt or 240Volt?? as long as it's 60W

Yes you can run a 110Volt 30Watt lamp on 240Volts and it will give 60Watts but for how long. A UK car PPP is the only way to go unless the tuner will give some form of engine waranty.

IIRC IMHO

I'll get the info from my dealer today wether he'll have the PPP ready for my 100 mile serviceon not . being offshore and having the car sitting in the office car park is limiting my miles a little but hey .... only 300 to go before I can start opening her up

Default PPP for MY07 WRX?

I've had my MY06 fitted with the PPP for about a year. Ultimately it's not quite as fast as my old MY02 STi (with ecutek), but the driveability is so much better with great ladles of low down torque. No need for all those gear chages ... can just leave in 4th on a b-road.

I'm thinking of getting a new MY07 WRX as new prices have come down, but it only makes sense if I can re-use the PPP from my MY06.

So .... does anyone know if the MY06 PPP can be moved to an MY07 as a straight swap?

Mike - you're a prodrive expert I think ... can you help with this one?

I've had a quick search and can't find much on MY07 changes over MY06, but wondering if there might be some sublte changes like ECU.

cheers.

The ECU is different although the other 'hard' parts of the PPP are the same. Results are the same as well

Mike - cheers v much for the response. I've decided to stay with my 06 for now. I'll pick up one of the 3rd gen scoobs in a year or two, though a bit numbed by the news that the WRX won't be making UK/European markets .... big long term implications for Scoob communities. Looks like I'll be going back to an STi .. it'd better be good.
