im 100 % that david has told you wrong or you have mis understood him. what do you mean see him about a job? Yes david does know a lot about imprezas, he has a good reputation. thats why i let him rebuild my engine. but im afraid you will find i am right about this. Ask any of the EXPERTS on here, like the mappers or people with STANDARD 95 wrx with boost gauges.

think about it..... Just because you heard from ONE source that it is 15psi,you think that is right? Do you not think you should ask about a bit more? ....in due course when others join this thread you will be embrassed! But hey lets not fall out Lets just wait... and then we wil see who is right
Im no expert but i have been hanging around here, talking to enough people long enough to know the facts and what is rubbish. More so than your 39 posts worth. i bet your running one of these 280 bhp 95 My wrx s like on ebay right?lol

Jesus. Chill out you (u?) two.

15psi is NOT standard. If that was the case why would he say that 1.1. bar is unsafe?

On a 95 WRX with a Z4 ecu then 15.65 psi is fuel cut.

1.1bar is 16.15psi.

12.7psi is standard - 0.836 bar.

Hang on, why I am bothering with this - u (you?) kids sort it out ur (your) self ffs.

i do.

i started this thread to find out what boost my car should be running at.

the car is standard apart from a decat centre section and back box.

the front cat is still in place.

ive fitted a psi boost gauge. and when i boot it in 1st 2nd or 3rd the gauge is reading just under 15psi.

im all confused now. IS IT WRONG OR IS RIGHT.

95 black wrx sees 15psi because he has an aftermarket chip fitted to his ecu.
Gaz c you may also have a chip fitted if you are seeing more than 12.7. These chips are NOT standard equipment from subaru and te japanese ones usually need 100 ron or more fuel to prevent detonation issues. End of topic. Have a nice day all

I had a 95 WRX fully de-catted, standard Z4 ecu.

Because of the decat it upped the boost a bit naturally, and I used to see up to 1 bar (14-15psi).

Its nothing to worry about, as long as it doesn't go over 15.65psi - as I said above

Agree - decat can cause the boost target to overshoot a bit. Mine does too. About 13.5 psi. Is your car de catted gaz c? That could be another reason

right i wil start at the begining.

when i bought the car i was the first owner in this country. about 11 months ago

it was completly standard. it was registered on 15/08/1995 on the log book anyway.

the only things that i have done is.

1. replace center section and rear box. (magnex center and 3.5 rear box).
the cat at the front with the lamner cencer is still in place.

2. replace element filter with a k&n filter.

3. i run it on optimax and one bottle millors octane boost to every tank.

i havnt got a clue if its got a chip on it.

all i can say is the gauge is telling me when on full boost approx 6000rpm it fluctuates between 14 and 15 psi.

OK, well IMO either a chip is fitted or the filter and exhaust is causing overboost (but not enough to trigger fuel cut). As it is the car is ok anyway so you could just leave as is. oterwise you could check the ecu to see if it has been chipped:
Lift the passenger foot well carpet, theres are metal panel bolted in place. Un bolt it and you will see the ecu.
Disconnect the battery and un plug the ecu. Take the ecu lid off (screws are stiff - dont round the heads). If the ecu is chipped there will be an extra circuit board fitted in the bottom right corner (yellow ecu plugs away from you).
They vary in design but it should stand out if one has been fitted. They normally have a label on them like "zero sports" or prova etc. These chips are not standard from the factory except in rare cases like early sti s etc.
