"Four of the robbers where caught as Police discovered a stricken Subaru Impreza on the M25. One of the men was heard muttering "I knew I should have replaced the MAF" followed by "but £80 quid seemed so much for a silly little sensor"

There are some extremely clever individuals involved in crime. They have chosen this route because what other job can bag you £25 million in an evening.

Either extremely clever or extremely thick - but we'll find that out over the next few weeks...

Obviously a very slick bit of organisation and execution. I bet the cash was on its way out of the country within an hour of leaving the place.

Its a bit of a worry to see how effective organised crime can be these days, bodes badly for the future.

Anyone else find it strange that with only 1 mans knowledge (they guy they kidnapped) such as passcodes on the doors, they were able to get all the way in?
Surely if a place has that amount of money stored in it there should be proceedures in place that no single one person knows all the codes?!

***** the size of water melons to go for a heist like that.

Damn sure if they executed it that well, they wont be out first thing the next morning to buy ferraris with a briefcase full of £50 notes... they will have planned for how to shift it fast

Apparently random, non sequential notes as they are just collected the shops from so very hard to trace - laundering not an issue as a result .

"***** the size of water melons to go for a heist like that."

why? is it braver than robbing a post office? or mugging an old lady?

they are crooks, the risk is getting caught.......doing it anyway despite the risk is not brave or clever anymore than a rapist raping despite the risk is brave or clever.

IMO if the police catch up with them, have a nice little shoot out and blow them all away it would be a fitting end.

they now have their own security issue.

however million quid sitting in someones house or building somewhere, and not at a secure loaction anymore. They could get robbed, although I think that if they split the money 6 ways, each person could go off and do their own thing with a boot full of wedge.

even tho the notes are not sequential, the laundering factor is still difficult, you have to put as many layers from the start of the process as you can, passing money through offshore business' is a popular way !

There was an item on the news that said the Police will be scouring BBSs to seek out any sympathisers with this crime and they will be logging IP addresses and tracing an electronic activity, especially foreign banking activity.

I'm surprised how many people are expressing respect for these people?

They subjected an entire family to a 6 hour terrifying gunpoint ordeal, would they still have your respect if they did this to your families? I think not.

Also, chances are they're not really nice people taking a one off big risk, they are more likely supplying drugs to people's children among other things.

Its not like you can walk into a Aston Martin dealer and pick out a new DB9 and pay cash.

You would have to be very smart how you spend it, Ive watched enough Sapranos to know what I would do with the money.

Wait a year or two, and then spend it at the Casino's at least then you can spend the winnings as its not dirty money.

Or would I get caught!

cant belive people saying good luck????

these people are scum.....if they broke into a SN members house, put a gun at the head of his wife and child for 8 hrs until he handed over the keys to his car...........would you say "good luck to em"

is it that they got so much money? if they had put a bullet in the kid but got £240m would that have been ok? seems the more you make the "Cooler it is"

they are theiving scum, i dont care if they swipe a £10 from a granny or £40million from a bank - scum.
